Animal ID: A 4987178Cassie (female)

Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed

Female, Queensland heeler or Australian cattle dog. Already spayed, 4-5 years old. Animal ID# A 4987178 She is quiet and on the shy side; walks very nicely on the leash and walks at your side, as cattle dogs do with their person. She is between 40-45 lbs. and does not seem high energy. This dog would be a fine companion for someone seeking an attentive, moderate energy cattle dog. She would be great once out of the shelter, with some time to decompress, and with a person of her own. When a volunteer went to see her, this dog was quiet, compliant, and focused on the staff person who put on her leash and took her to the exercise yard. ... (Read More)With all the constantly barking dogs the surrounding kennels, she was a little nervous and took a few minutes to warm up to the new person visiting her. When the new person came forward to pet her, this girl flinched, but quickly realized she was getting personal attention and relaxed. Once she is away from the stress and chaos of the shelter, she will need a little time to recover in the quiet of a home. She should be fine with older children, who know how to behave around a dog. This dog (Animal ID# A 4987178) has been at the Lancaster Animal Care Center since August 27, 2016, and is available for adoption. You can visit me at my temporary home at L443. Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Unfortunately Rescue Me does not have a tab for a McNab Shepherd which is what Dakota is, or a high mix. She is on the smaller side at 40 pounds, about a year old and came out of the ag/vineyard areas of southern San Diego/Imperial counties. She was the last of an unintended litter that we are cleaning up in the area and caught her before she could reproduce as well as several of the other permanent residents of the farm they were living on. Dakota is very social, great steady temperament - she was perfect integrating with the dogs here which include small, large, old and cranky and snarky tweens. She is very good with people, very ...     Hi I'm DINGO! I am a STUNNING 2 1/2 year old pure Australian Cattle Dog! I was purchased as a puppy from a breeder by a family. After all of this time they decided to move and that they didn't want me any more. Not only was I dumped at a kill pound-but it was done with the 2 little boys that I grew up with. They cried and cried and begged dad to not leave me there-but he was adamant, he really didn't care about me or about thier feelings. He even told them that the pound would find me a big fancy home to live in-I don't know what planet he lives on but it certainly wasn't the one I was on. I am such a sensitive boy that everything at the ... (Read More)pound terrified me and I just sat frozen in fear and trembled. I could see how scared all of the other animals were and I didn't think I was gonna get out of that place ALIVE. Thankfully a kind volunteer put me on Instagram and tagged this nice rescue! I am so happy for Social Media! I am really a sweet and gentle boy and walk nicely on a leash too and I'd do best in a home with adults or older kids because my former family never socialized me so sudden movements and new things tend to scare me. I'd love an active person or family with a nice big yard and another dog to play with due to my breed. Please email bulliesandbuddies@gmail.com to meet me! I am in the Southern CA area-sorry but my rescue does NOT adopt out of state-NO EXCEPTIONS (Less)

This gorgeous Cattledog/Lab mix is Kayla. She is a 5-6 year old sweetheart looking for her forever home. Kayla is a very good girl. She is smart and knows quite a bit. She knows: sit, stay, down, and 'go to your house.' She really listens for direction and aims to please. Kayla enjoys adventures. She is polite on the leash and good in the car. Hiking and jogging are ideal for her. She is a good off-leash hiking buddy after she gets to know you. Kayla is a shy but social girl. She takes just a moment to warm up and then loves to be pet and scratched. She likes to play with other dog pals, too. She will be good with quieter kids, since ... Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Ball crazy and just what the ACD nut loves, this gorgeous blue girl is Tabitha. She is about 6 years old and ready to play fetch. She looks smart, and she is! She already knows sit, wait, kennel, load up (get in the car), and outside. She can catch treats in the air, too. Tabitha is good in the car. However, she does pull on a leash. Apparently she is eager for an adventure, so she will need some leash work. Tabitha is good with other dogs, assuming she is given a proper introduction. She will eventually play with dogs she really likes. That said, overly rambunctious dogs aren't her favorites. She is also okay with cats, given a light ... (Read More)correction. Tabitha is polite in the house. She is house trained and crate trained. She is also polite with most people, though she may be a bit too intense for small kids. Tabitha is insistent and focused. She isn't the kind of dog that is okay for a first time Cattledog owner. She loves a solid routine and plenty of mental and physical exercise. If you have a bird problem, the will take care of that, too! She needs an owner who likes a real partnership with a dog and knows how to provide positive guidance. Also, she prefers an owner who doesn't mind her grumbling. She is just a bit talkative by nature! Tabitha weighs about 45 pounds. She is spayed, current on her vaccinations, microchipped, and ready for her forever home. She is available for adoption in Southern CA. A home visit and vet reference are required. (Less)

Attention! CHEVY Here! I am a gorgeous, happy, male, neutered, microchipped, housebroken, 6 month old Australian Cattle Dog puppy looking for my forever loving home. I am a happy dog, love to run and fetch and be closest to my family all day long - once I find them. I am best suited with an active family, with a secure fenced yard to exercise in and drain my energy. I am a real candidate for a family/person who wants a buddy for hiking, walking, jogging. Yours with a happy tailwag! CHEVY Requirements for Adoption: The dogs are inside dogs and family members, the adopter has a secure fenced yard to exercise and play in. Children should be school-aged or older, no toddlers.     This is the kind of save that just makes you go Ahhhh;. Stuart is one of 2 newly aquainted buddies slated, for euthanasia in Riverside. Downtrodden in the shelter, both appeared to be seniors... not so much now! Stuart and Bailey haunted Raeann Murphy. Who in turn haunted me! They are hanging out in Huntington Beach looking for their respective homes, now under Central Coast Herding Dog rescue. Stuart is perfect. The gray on his face and body is from Heeler blue tick coloring, not age. He has double dew claws on his back feet, which the shelter actually noted as little 'masses'! Kinda funny... At first he was a little iffy on the whole hug thing, a little undignified maybe? Now, he waits for them lol! I can see why the staff at Riverside were desperate to get him out of the shelter. Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults

Those amazing ears belong to super cute Okra! She turned 11 weeks old as of 8/17/2016 and should be a medium-sized dog. Her mom is a purebred red Cattledog and, based on how these puppies are turning out, there is a possibility that their daddy was a Cattledog, too. That said, Okra is all that a Cattledog person loves. She is whip smart. She is super cute. She is a bit devilish. What's not to love? Okra is initially sensitive when new people show up. She cries out of you sneak up on her! As is usual for a Cattledog, she likes to know what is going on around her. So, slower introductions are better for Okra. With a nice introduction, she is ... (Read More)good with men, women, and even quieter kids. Okra is a silly girl. She loves to play with other dogs. Even though she is a pretty little girl, she is rough and tumble, too! She loves a good game with her Cattledog siblings and her mom. With people, she already enjoys a rousing game of fetch. She would love to continue that in her new home. Okra is all that a Cattledog lover enjoys in the breed. She would love a home who knows what to do with a smart, fun Cattledog pup and is interested in doing some training to help Okra be all that she can be. Okra is current on her vaccinations, microchipped, and is scheduled for her spay in order to be ready for her forever home. She is available for adoption in Southern CA. Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Adult

Named Lucky because he truly is, this guy is a 5 year old Australian Cattledog who weighs about 27 pounds. Lucky is the kind of dog whose love you earn and, when you do, he is your best friend forever. He has had a rough time of it and a good samaritan stepped in to help him. Lucky, indeed. Now, he is looking for a home who doesn't mind taking it just a bit slow at first. Simple little things make all of the difference to him, such as talking to him before coming up to him, so he knows you are coming his way. Gentle leadership will help him relax and become even more wonderful than he already is. His foster mom wishes that she had fewer ... (Read More)dogs, so she could keep him. Lucky is a typically Cattledog in that he sometimes wonders about bigger dogs. He likes small dogs and would be fine with another medium-larger dog who isn't interested in being number one. Lucky is a smart guy. He learned his name in under a week. We don't know what his name was before he came to us. Also, he is house trained. He knows his basic commands: sit, stay, quiet, and come. He is initially excited to go on an adventure, but stops pulling on the leash after just a bit. He will walk right at your side, ready for whatever fun is in store. He does love car rides. He thinks that he would like to help drive by sitting on your lap. So, he is learning to stay on his side and will benefit from a dog seatbelt or crate in the car. Mostly, Lucky is a guy who wants a committed relationship. He has a cute smile, missing one tooth. When happy, he will come up and put his head on your chest. If you lay down on the floor, he is likely to come up and lay curled up against your arm. Once he loves, he loves deeply. Lucky is neutered and is current on his rabies vaccination. He will be up to date on his other vaccinations and microchipped before adoption. Lucky is ready to meet potential adopters in Southern CA. Out of area adopters will be happily referred to our favorite rescue partners. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-10-00587Astro (male)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Deaf

Astro is a gorgeous, neutered 15-18 month old, 51 lb. cattle dog, with a bit of Aussie shepherd. He has excellent conformation, and his coat markings are a work of modern art. Astro is an outgoing and curious boy, with a moderate energy level. He is great when meeting all adults, children, farm animals, horses and other dogs. He will chase cats that run, but we think that he could live with cats, if introductions are slow and managed. More than anything, Astro wants to find his own person to bond closely with and to be with whenever he can. While he is a very alert, observant and inquisitive cattle dog, he is also easy going, and loves ... (Read More)sitting at his person's feet or placing his head in his human's lap for petting and close personal time. His favorite time of the day is snuggle time in the bed, if you are okay with that. He shows affection with nuzzling and very sweet, gentle puppy chews. Our boy meets other dogs in a very curious, friendly, relaxed way, with tail wags. He adores playing with other dogs. However, in a multi-dog household, it must be made clear to him that he must learn to share his person. For this reason, Astro will need a person who is experienced with this breed and who will be a clear leader to him. If not, Astro will try to make decisions and run the household for you. Astro isn't very interested in toys or treats. His rewards are interacting with people and other dogs. If another dog is not friendly or snaps at him, he will jump back or run. He may also stand a few feet away and bark at them several times to let them know that they weren't nice to him. If a dog is truly threatening, he will avoid them. Astro is a mostly a very quiet boy, but he may bark at passing bicycles. He will bark when crated initially, but settles in nicely. It is clear to us that Astro is one of the best examples of a cattle dog. He is a thinking dog with brilliant intelligence and the ability to puzzle through situations. He has such a velcro nature, that the people who found and fostered him never had him on leash. He would follow them everywhere and wait for them. Astro very much wants to please, but also has a mind of his own, with a sense of right and wrong and will let you know what he thinks. He is as close as you can get to a human child in a dog's body. One thing - Astro is nearly totally deaf. He has learned some hand signals and is very eager to learn more. It is such a shame that this amazing boy, with so much heart, personality, love, brains and a great temperament, was never taught anything before he was found stray. Astro is a quick learner, and now starting to learn basic commands, manners and boundaries. He redirects very easily, with a quick hand signal for 'No' and he will stop any inappropriate action. After being redirected 2-3 times, he will stop any further attempts. For several reasons, we believe that Astro was mostly an outside dog. He loves hanging out outside or inside, as long as he is with his person. Astro will walk by your side without a leash. He is just beginning to learn how to walk on leash, and will sometimes pull for several minutes, in excited anticipation of an adventure. While he seems house trained, our fosters are taking him out frequently as a reminder to go outside. Astro needs to be restrained when riding in a car. He wants to lay beside you or place his head on your lap as you drive. In summary, as a cattle dog, Astro's personality is one of the finest and truest examples of the brains and heart of the Australian cattle dog breed. Our boy has a lot of love, and bonds as fast as super glue. He needs some work to catch up on training he should have received as a puppy. We are seeking adopter(s) who can see the incredible potential in Astro, and who will return all the love in his heart, and are willing to polish this diamond in the rough, into the gem that he is. We encourage any adopter to learn about training a deaf dog and the special attention they require. If you are interested in meeting Astro, we ask that you first complete our adoption questionnaire (online form or download a hard copy), which is the first step of our pre-adoption process. At our website (hittgv.org), please click on the Adopt tab near the top of the page, and scroll down to find the online Adoption Form. You can also email us at doghouse@hittgv.org if you have specific questions about Astro or our process. (Less)

Little Beth, maybe 23 lbs... female Cattle Dog. Beth looks about 2 - 3 years old. Spayed, vaccinated and micro-chipped. Beth came in as a stray to the Visalia Animal Care Center. Stray? She's a velcro dog! Beth is learning her way at Central Coast Herding Dog Rescue. She's was not crazy about the dogs. So we went on a pack walk. She sticks close by me, she could be an only dog, but she's definitely not an aggressor, so if there's another dog in the home. She'll learn to go with the flow.     My sweet Queensland Heeler needs a new home. She is 1.5 yrs, spayed, up-to-date vaccinations/Heartguard. She knows basic commands, lives inside (w/outside access) and is very affectionate and playful. She is easy to train, but definitely needs 'jobs' to do. She needs somebody who has the time and energy to dedicate to training and keeping her busy. She cannot go to a home with small animals or children as she does not do well with either. Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Young Adult

Magnus is a real Australian Cattledog ready for a real home, a home where his handsome, rugged good looks, full tail, and Cattledog quirks are appreciated. Magnus is 3 years old and weighs about 45 pounds. He found himself in jail and was pulled to safety just in the nick of time. Fortunately, he found himself in a Cattledog foster home where his charming personality has started to blossom. Magnus isn't just a handsome boy. He is smart, too. He knows sit, wait, shake, and is perfecting down. As a bit of a renaissance man, he is ready and able to learn more. Magnus is also polite in the house. He is house trained. He is good with most ... (Read More)dogs, but thinks of small dogs as play things, so only medium or large dogs for this guy. He has been cautious around the cat, but what smart guy wouldn't be? Magnus appreciates adventure. He is good in the car and walks politely on leash. He would appreciate a good hike or something else equally outdoorsy. He shows interest in the ball and thinks that a good game of tug is fantastic. Magnus isn't a total tough guy. He is a great cuddler. He loves to snuggle and even sings a few tunes from time to time. However, he is definitely a Cattledog, so no small kids. He would appreciate a home who knows likes a few quirks. He needs a home who knows how to manage his prey drive. He also needs work on leash reactivity, so a home that would enjoy training and possible engaging a trainer would be ideal. Magnus is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. He is ready for a forever home in Southern California. A home visit and vet reference are required to adopt Magnus. (Less)

She has been housebroken since she was very young and always lets someone know when she needs a potty break. Bella is also excellent on a leash and has a lot of energy so walks and jogs are her favorite activities.     We have been fostering Bella, a beautiful and affectionate two-year-old Australian cattle dog mix. She came to us from the San Francisco SPCA who brought her into the city from Stockton. Bella is alternately bored and over-stimulated by the demands of city life. She does better in a suburban environment, but will really thrive on a ranch or farm where she can be free to run and have the responsibility of patrolling a large area to keep its inhabitants safe from harm and gophers. Bella will do well in a home where there are people or animals to watch over. She is very protective and will bark aggressively at perceived threats, though she ... We will miss Bella terribly, but will love to see her thriving in a safe place where she can have a job and get the exercise she needs. Rescue Me ID: 16-06-14-00740Koi (male)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Good/Great: Koi is an obedient loving animal. He follows commands such as: sit, stay, down, off, paw, roll over. He's house trained and managed to live in a 2 bedroom apartment over the last 2 years (he's 3 years old, the first year he lived in a house with a back yard). He loves to play fetch and if given the opportunity would do this all day. Walks very well on a leash with an occasional tug if he sees a cat or squirrel. He can jog well on a leash. He's never destroyed any of our belongings or our property, he sticks to chewing his own toys and will de-fluff any stuffed animal toy. He's been kind and patient with our 1.5 year old son. He ... (Read More)lets us know when he needs to go outside by coming up to us and staring us down. He rarely barks indoors, unless someone comes to the door (he will bark two-three times). He loves people once he gets to know them and can trust them. Bad: Koi has fearful anxiety initially with strangers that are not part of the 'pack' (that includes small children/toddlers and adults). This usually manifests as excessive barking when someone new initially walks in. We've addressed this by keeping him in a separate area where he can see and smell the stranger while he watches us interact with him/her. After about 5-10 minutes we let him back in and all he wants to do is play fetch. He has over the last 8 months sporadically lunged at strangers while we walk him and so we've resorted to putting a mussel on him when we take him on walks since this lunging is random and he doesn't show any warning signs or anxiety that we can see. He also has some fearful aggression towards unknown dogs. When Koi was about 8 month old we took him to a dog park where a pack of dogs all came to greet him too suddenly and corralled him into a corner with a couple of dogs lunging towards him. Since then, he's just become more and more anxious towards new dogs. Also we think because we've been less able to exercise him, this aggression/anxiety has worsened. It's strange because we also have a small fluffy dog whom he is very sweet and respectful towards. He's never bitten or or shown food, toy or bedding aggression towards her either. We unfortunately do not know people with stable dogs who we could work with to introduce Koi and help him work through this fear. In short, he needs daily exercise and someone who is willing to work with him with his stranger and dog anxiety. Ideally also a household with no children or at least an owner who is mindful about small children and toddlers and will put Koi away or remove him from this situation. Ugly: Over the last 2 months, Koi has managed to bite two separate people. In one situation, shortly before we placed the mussel, he was calmly sitting by my side when a strange woman came and started talking to our toddler. Our smaller dog began howling and barking at her. The woman then proceeded to pet our small dog which our small dog allowed. After our small dog stopped barking and the woman and I were making small talk, I moved my body slightly towards her and Koi lunged grabbing her arm. He didn't puncture skin but he did manage to bruise her arm. This is when we decided that his random lunging had gone too far and bought a mussel which we use when we walk with him. More recently, he also happened to lunge at a young 4 year old girl. At the time he was under the care of someone else who'd been exercising him daily for about 1 week. He had just come back from a 3 mile hike. He was sitting outside in the front lawn with some other adults, a neighbor came back with his daughter and not anticipating a reaction, this caregiver allowed the little girl to approach Koi too quickly or suddenly at which point he lunged towards the little girl and this time punctured the skin on her forearm. Again, Koi just doesn't trust strangers that easily. We're unsure where this insecurity comes from as we've never abused him or put him in a situation where he needed to show that he needed to defend himself with this kind of fearful aggression. There's no fees and we will give you all his belongings, vet records, including 5 months worth of flea/tick/worm prevention meds. We LOVE this dog and don't wish to euthanize him as he's an amazing and wonderful companion to our family (we've considered euthanasia if we cannot find another loving and patient home for him). But we just don't have the time and resources to work with him and his anxiety. Our work schedules sometimes keep us away from home for up to 10 hours during the workweek leaving only myself or my husband with two dogs and a toddler. (Less)

Say 'hi' to Ted... quietly, he nervous! Ted has been here a while now, but oh, the progress! Looking normal much of the time now. Follows you everywhere off leash. Routine oriented. He's blowing me away. Longest I have ever had a foster, but the things he's taught me are invaluable! He's about 2, Queensland / Catahoula combo. Beautiful guy, one blue eye. Ted came here with his sister/mother, who knows, Tessa from the small Orange Cove Shelter, in July 2014. Sometimes I wish I knew a dog's story. How could they be SO shut down?! Ted was one of those dogs. He's fearful and under socialized. Been working with him, and experience has proven ... (Read More)that they are all reachable. The kind of progress I'm grateful for, he now instigates play with dogs, loves sleeping on a dog bed inside and knows how to navigate the dog door, and is housebroken. He's not terrified of me anymore! Eats grass on walks... walks on a leash. I can pet him... I'm tellin' ya, it's the little things that are enormous with some of these guys! Now when we walk, Ted is so close he bumps into the back of my legs, and I feel his breath on the back of my hand... Ted just needs a special adopter, one who might understand Ted is special. He could just be left alone to exist, but I would love to see him with someone that would touch him every day, take him on walks, expose him to things. This is when I've seen the most improvements. Exposure to everything! Immersion. Was a huge deal to even force him to sleep in a dog bed next to me! Once he did for a few days, he expected it! Routine is key! Dogs are incredible, you can reach them through routine. Still working and he has all the time he needs...     Meet Miss Minnie Pearl, a real pearl of a girl. She is a 6 year old pixie, weighing 29 pounds, and full of love with her long, cattledog tail. Don't let her smaller stature fool you. She is ready for an active home. Minnie is looking for a person who appreciates her love of fetching and will join in the fun. In fact, one could call Minnie a toy hoarder. She takes very good care of them and does not pull the stuffing out of her toys like some dogs do. She has been known to carry a toy with her around the house, holding it in her mouth as she walks along. Minnie Pearl currently lives with other dogs and likes them. Like all ladies, she ... (Read More)simply prefers a polite introduction upon meeting. With a few dogs, she will even play. A submissive or neutral dog would be a lovely companion for her. Miss Minnie Pearl is a very polite girl. She knows sit, wait, and off. She also walks nicely on a leash and rides politely in the car. She is ready for a person who wants to go places and take her along. Minnis is a sponge when it comes to learning. She is very interested in learning and would really blossom with additional training or even someone who wants to take her to flyball or agility. Minnie really focuses on her person. She is ready to make a deep bond and be someone's very best pal. That said, with her activity level, Minnie is not a fit for a home with kids under junior high age. Minnie is a lovely house pal. She is house trained and, if you ask, will go into her crate where she remains quietly until it is time to get out. Minnie Pearl is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and ready to meet potential adopters in Southern CA. She is being fostered in the Inland Empire. Out of area adopters will be happily referred to local rescues. A home visit and vet reference are required. (Less)

Rain 'found' us Aug. '15. For a week, whenever she caught sight of us she'd run and hide. She came to trust us, wag her tail, and gained a good amount of weight. She initially blended into our 'pack' of a male Boxer and a female Pitt mix while we looked for her owner(s). We made mistakes -- being naive about the attention needs and energy levels of not only her breed (we're going by 'looks' for breed) but of our two 'home dogs'. We did not 'drain' Rain's energy sufficiently to maintain balance in the 'pack'. Rain and the Pitt mix can not be alone with one another as they have fought. She does well with the Boxer. It's unclear if it's ... (Read More)because of being male or because of his non-alpha temperament. She has also played well with a male lab on a few occasions. We know she has growled and snarled at visitors, but it's also unclear if that comes from insecurity or from some negative experience she's had. Bottom line: We're sorry we can not keep her. If we didn't have two 'high energy' dogs, or just the Boxer, we DEFINITELY would keep Rain. We want her to find a safe, caring, balanced 'pack leader' who understands (better than we did) the need for exercise for her breed. Rain needs 'a job'. Our 'pack' needs stability returned. She rides EXTREMELY well in the cars. She tethers well when needed. Walks fairly well on lead. Comes when called better than any other dog we've had. She is SWEET and BRIGHT. Rain is a great little dog. (Less)

This little character is Fin, a 4 year old Australian Cattledog mix. At 22 pounds, he is a small guy with mass amounts of personality! Fin has learned a lot of house manners. He learns so fast that he may have learned something new by the time you are reading this. He also LOVES his blankeys! He loves to bury himself in his blankets and pillows. He's also a goof - very wiggly and snuggly and affectionate once he gets to know you. Fin enjoys casual hikes or long strolls through the neighborhood. Once he gets to ... (Read More)know his person, he is even good off leash on a hike. Fin is a big guy in a small package. He needs a home where his people aren't pushovers. If he gets an inch, he will take a mile. Therefore, he is looking for a home that understands that some dogs feel best when they have a lot of structure. He also is looking for a home where he is a buddy rather than a teddy bear. He will do best hanging out with his person but not being cuddled and coddled. A home without kids is required. He lives with other animals and gets along well. Just like with people, he does best when his animal friends aren't pushovers. In order to help Fin be the best he can be, he has been enrolled in professional training where his obedience skills have been refined. He has received additional socialization with dogs and people, too. He will always be a one or two person kind of dog rather than the super social, love everyone kind of guy. If you want devoted, he is definitely that. HIs foster mom says that he has a way of becoming a part of your heart, so even with his need for structure, he is well worth it. He will come with a few sessions of training with his new person and current trainer so that his transition to a new home is smooth and effective. The training is included in his adoption fee. Fin is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and ready to meet potential adopters in Southern CA. Out of area adopters will be happily referred to local rescues. PIease Read Before Adopting an Australian Cattle Dog in California
Australian Cattle Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. Australian Cattle Dogs have strong herding instincts and behave best when they have plenty of space and a job to do. Australian Cattle Dogs are well suited to farms and homes with large yards; they do not do well confined to an apartment or other small space. Australian Cattle Dogs are loyal and very obedient with attentive training. An Australian Cattle Dog tends not to do well with children unless it has known them since it was a puppy. Australian Cattle Dog
lnteresting Australian Cattle Dog Trivia Low-Cost California Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Cattle Dogs were bred by 19th century Australian pioneers to herd cattle on large ranches. Most Australian Cattle Dogs have a star-shaped marking on their foreheads called the Bentley Mark, after dog owner Thomas Bentley, whose purebred dog supposedly passed this mark on to all genuine Australian Cattle Dogs. The Australian Cattle Dog nips at a cow's heels to keep it in line with the herd, and may apply this technique to its humans from time to time as well. Australian Cattle Dogs are descended from several different breeds, including Dalmatians and Smithfield Collies, which are now thought to be extinct.
