Health: Vaccinations Current

I have a cattle/lab/pit mix dog. She is current on all shots. She is about 4 years old with a microchip. She is a very high energy dog that likes to hike and run. She isn't a fan is swimming or small dogs but does fine with dogs her size. She doesn't really like to play with toys but would rather spend time with people doing an activity. I have come to a point where I am unfortunately unable to keep her any longer. I work to many hours at a new job and my mother is not in any physical condition to attempt to help or take care of her. I have tried many different training styles and nothing has helped her focus because she has so much ... (Read More)energy. My neighbors have complained about her barking. I need to rehome her. She barks at the fence because she is bored because our yard is so small. When we got her we didn't know what breed she was and that she would have so much energy. I am hoping you can take her in so She can have a better life. Thanks, Taylor 925-354-5132 (Less)

Purebred ACD- Cash is his REAL name. Trained in NW ready for his ORT and NW1 and training for NW2. Stares at the location of the scent and does not move. Started in agility- knows everything but weaves - very fast and very driven. Plays in sprinklers and hose water but does not like dock jumping or lure coursing and too aggressive with sheep in herding. Best in an active home that can devote at least an hour daily and more on weekends of training or jogging/fetching etc. Walks are not enough exercise for him and he does not play with dogs so do not take him to a dog park. Fetchaholic!! LOVES people!! Will only be placed in an active home ... (Read More)with preference to one that will compete in agility and/or Nosework. Application, vet reference, home check and also proof of agility and/or nosework training or competition history or a trainer you will be taking classes with. LOCAL adoptions only- within 1 hour of 91355. Cash is an awesome sweet cattle dog. He is an indoor dog, crate trained, house trained, non destructive. Not good with doggy door if you are not home and have neighbor dogs that fence fight. He will bark and learn to fence fight and be reactive and then very barky barky. (Less)

Animal ID: 1498Bello (male)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bello is a 5-month old cuddle puppy (born early June). He is a pretty laid-back fellow who does like to play rambunctiously with his sisters but soon tuckers out and then goes to his crate to rest. Even better is when he gets to snuggle with his foster mom! Initially rather shy, Bello will check out new people and once he feels comfortable he will wander over to them in quest of some lovin'. Now weighing 6 lbs., Bello is likely a Rat Terrier - Queensland Heeler mix, with beautiful markings on his coat. He is respectful of the cats in his foster home and gets along great with all the other dogs. He has learned to use the 'potty park' in the ... (Read More)X-pen where he stays during the day while his foster mom is at work, and he has just recently learned to use the doggie door, so it is just a matter of time until he is house trained to only do his 'business' outside. Bello is new to everything and is just starting to be introduced to basic commands like come, sit, and stay. With his young age, he will surely soak it all up quickly, especially if he can enroll in a puppy class. He has a lot to learn and would do well in a home with a canine companion to confidently show him the world and play with him. He is not yet leash trained (but does catch on to things quickly), and since he is so curious, a safely fenced yard is a must. More photos of this adorable boy can be found in his photo album at http://imageevent.com/newrattitude/bello. ========================================================================================If you are interested in adopting Bello, please go to New Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application. Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Bella is a very shy little puppy who needs a kind and patient mom or dad to gently expose her to all the wonderful things that life can hold for a dog. Born in early June, she is now around 5 months old, a good age to learn new things and bond with a loving family. Bella currently weighs around 6 lbs. and is believed to be a Rat Terrier - Queensland Heeler mix. She is a smart girl who is catching on quickly to house training; she knows how to use the doggie door and will use a 'potty park' while confined to an X-pen when her foster mom is at work. She would benefit greatly from a puppy training class so that she can gain confidence as well ... (Read More)as learn basic skills. Bella plays well with the other dogs in her foster home and is respectful of the resident cats. She would love a permanent home with another young canine to play with. Rescue Me ID: 14-10-27-00727Rio (female)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Rio was given up when her family was no longer able to care of her. She is approximately 9 months old. She had been in a family with small children and does very well with them. She loves to play, is on the more relaxed side, is great on walks and car rides. Rio is housebroken, has good inside manners, is crate trained and when she has the appropriate toys for chewing, does very well. She has been raised with adult dogs and puppies, large and small and does great. She is afraid of cats. She likes everyone she meets and is not a hyperactive dog that would knock small toddlers down and is very good with young children.

Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Abused/Neglected

Joey was rescued from Rancho Cucamonga animal shelter about 3yrs ago as a companion bog from my mother. Unfortunately she is being moved to assisted living place that does not allow dogs. Joey is a very gentle dog that is house broken, not a barker and does not jump on people, furniture, etc. He probably was abused and is skiddish of men, but will warmup with time and patience. Joey has reddish blond fur and blue eyes and I cannot stand to think that he will end up in the shelter again. Please help me to find him a loving home.

Shenzi is an Australian Cattle/Boxer Brindle mix, she is 4 and spayed, and Sushi is a Chihuahua, he is 2 and not neutered. They are inseparable companions. Rescue Me ID: 14-10-24-00233Deuce is a happy boy! (male)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Deuce is a friendly 10 year old bull terrier mix. He weighs only 45 pounds and is perfectly healthy.. Deuce is a sweetheart who loves people. He's very loving, devoted, and eager to please! He's completely house trained, knows how to use he doggie door, and walks nicely on a leash. He's neutered, current on vaccinations and microchipped. His family has moved, and can no longer keep him. We didn't want Deuce to end up in the shelter, so we said we would find him a new home. We're boarding Deuce at the vets office until we can find a foster or permanent home. He'd love a home with a yard to run and play! Deuce is a big happy goofball that ... (Read More)would make a great addition to the right home! He loves to play with his toys, or have you throw the ball for him. Deuce would be best as an only dog. Sadly, Deuce had a very rough start in life. When he was just a puppy, some cruel person kicked him in the head, and then dumped him at a high kill shelter. Deuce has an adorable tilt to his head because of that injury, and specialists say there's nothing that can be done. Deuce really deserves a wonderful family of his own! He'll repay you with lots of love and devotion! If you'd like to meet Deuce, please call 310-283-8947 or complete our online adoption application found on dexterfoundation.com If you can't adopt Deuce, can you at least foster him temporarily? Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

Whippy's former owners obtained him as a puppy and put him on a chain attached to their home, he never left that chain. Even when his owners moved out of their home that is where Whippy stayed. They abandoned him. For a month and a half neighbors fed him scraps, but he had no shelter from our triple degree heat and no free access to water. One of the neighbors couldn't stand to see him on the end of that chain any longer and called me. Armed with bolt cutters and hotdogs a friend and I went to change Whippy's life as he knew it. He was sunburned around his eyes and suffering from a terrible bladder infection, he had been drinking his own ... (Read More)urine to supplement the little bits of water he received from neighbors. The first week within my pack he still would urinate and immediately turn to lick it up, it took him some time to figure out that we wouldn't be taking away the water and he'd always have access to it. After working on his bladder issues he was neutered. Now Whippy is ready for his forever home where he can be INCLUDED and a part of the family not just a yard dog to be forgotten at the end of a chain. He's excellent with my three small children, does well with our chickens and horses but not so great with our piglets... one escaped and Whippy clearly did not approve of him being out of the pig pen. He doesn't seem to have any issues with any of the dogs currently residing here and has an excellent recall. Whippy hasn't quite gotten used to be allowed indoors, but with time and TLC he will thrive in the right home. Are you willing to take a chance on this handsome love? (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-20-00513Angus (male)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Angus and his brother, Elijah are the most adorable 9 month old littermates who are probably a mix of Cattle Dog and Border Collie. Angus also seems to have a fair amount of hound qualities. They pups are very devoted to each other, but also fight like brothers do. As littermates (google 'littermate syndrome') training has been slow but they do relatively well with simple commands such as sit, stay and come. Angus is the more mellow of the two brothers. While Elijah is busy guarding the roost, Angus will lounge around until rustled out of bed. The only thing that will get his attention VERY quickly is food. He is the true definition ... (Read More)of a 'chow hound'. Angus experiences his world with his nose, so we hope to find him a loving family/owner/trainer who can provide both more training and lots of room to roam and smell. He needs a fair amount of exercise, so ideally you will have a large yard for him to run & explore, and time each day to go on an off-leash hike or to the beach. He loves playing with other dogs and is very social. We are not sure he would do very well in an apartment left alone all day. Angus would be great sniffing for gophers or rodents but we doubt he would do very well as a guard dog-- he is too mellow for that. Once he gets to know his peeps, he is very cuddly and loving. If he weren't nearly 60 pounds, he would love to be a lap dog. If separated, Elijah and Angus are going to miss each other a lot, but keeping them together will require a very strong 'pack' leader willing to put the time and energy into training each of them independently so that each pup can reach his full potential. They have quite different skills and temperments that need to be encouraged. We cannot keep our beautiful puppies because I have an elderly mother moving in with us and, at over 50 pounds each, they could easily knock her over in their exuberance. So, please consider making one or both of our wonderful pups part of your family. If interested, please contact Jeanine @ 925-200-3857 (Less)

Loves to go on walks, play with her toys and go for car rides in our jeep. Wants to be that little lap dog. Very high spirit, funny and playful. In perfect health. She was found on the streets in our community and no one claimed her. We offered to foster her then fell in love and decided to keep her. Got her vaccinations, spayed and chipped her. But after several months of extreme congestion we have come to find out I'm highly allergic to her. She needs a home that gives her lots of attention, not left in a backyard. She loves to be loved.

Cocoa is a very sweet dog and loves kids but needs to be in a family with no dogs or for one person looking for companionship. I do think she could be trained to be with other dogs as she grew up with my other male corgi with no problems.     Sweet Maxine! This poor girl has had one of the worst starts to life we've seen. She was living in a hoarders property with 200+ animals and then brought to the shelter. She was held w/the other dogs as evidence and then put up for adoption. We had to get her and 4 other dogs out before they killed them. Maxine was so shut down she couldn't move. For a year. She was completely catatonic and we had to physically move her out of the crate she stayed in just so her legs would move. She is semi feral and needs a home that understands that. NOW she is the most happiest girl! She LOVES to run and play ball. She is in San Diego and would love a ... (Read More)home w/a big yard where she had another dog to play with.     Max is a cattle dog mix. 42lbs 4yr old male. He is a fun loving guy who is learning to trust people. He gets along with all dogs. He's shown with his buddy Joe. Both Max and Joe are semi feral and need a loving, understanding, consistent home to help them learn to fully trust. We would love for them to be adopted together, but if there was a home with another playful dog that was a match for Max, we would split them up. Max is in San Diego and we would love for him to be adopted in that area, he would love a house with a big yard where he can run and play. rachel_4851@yahoo.com

FOUND: Sweet, smart Australian Cattledog on Sunset and Beaudry on Friday afternoon, Sept. 14, 2014 This handsome beast I'm calling Chip needs a forever home. We placed him in the Lacy Street City Shelter for 10 days to see if someone would claim him, and no one did. I would keep him, but I have cats and he does things that cats don't like. He's good with other dogs and people, large and small. Stands about 2.5 feet high, 35 pounds, no I.D. or microchip; athletic presentation, doesn't look like he was on the street very long. This dog is highly intelligent. There's white hair on his face, but I think his ... I would guess he's about three to five years old. His eyes are clear; teeth look good; knows how to walk on a leash. This is a high energy dog that needs daily exercise and stimulation. Chip would do great with a jogger, hiker, someone that wants a terrific companion to join in their outdoor activities. Please work with me to find Chip a permanent place to live. We would be grateful if you would forward the info and pics on to anyone you believe could help. Thank you so much for your kindness and compassion. (Less)

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Deaf

Meet Gavin! Gavin is a gorgeous, friendly and dog social 1 year old Cattle Dog/Lab mix from the San Bernadino City Shelter. Gavin is one lucky boy to be here at Central Coast Herding Dog Rescue, it took a village to get him here, but he is a great dog and totally worth the trouble! No one knew this handsome boy was deaf prior to his arrival, but he's such a great pup, we know someone special is going to want to add him to their family. Took us a minute to figure out that Gavin is deaf. This boy is so people oriented and likes to keep you happy, in one day he has already learned the hand signals for 'sit' and 'come.' He's exceptionally ... (Read More)smart, so we he will be trained on hand signals quickly! Gavin enjoys the company of both people and dogs. He bonds quickly with people and would probably do best with someone who is home a lot, or at least has another dog to keep him company. He's 100% dog social. He likes to play and romp around (as we first saw him do with his transporter's 12 lbs. terrier). Gavin is a special dog, ready to bring lots of joy to some lucky household.     This adorable Queensland Heeler mix seems to have been dumped in our neighborhood. He showed up overnight; he has no microchip, and we've checked the 'lost' notices to no avail. We got him up-to-date on his vaccinations; he still needs to be neutered. We have two dogs already (one of whom is jealous of this little guy being around), so we need to help him find a good home. We've temporarily named him Thor. He gets along with our male dogs and with us - an adult man and woman. He did chase our cat, and she hasn't given him another chance to see if he'd behave with her. He really enjoys going for a walk and does well even off-leash ... (Read More)- sticking with us and coming back when called. Around the house he likes to follow his favorite person from room-to-room, then lay near their feet and just chill out. He likes to be petted and give occasional little non-slobbery kisses. He's probably just 30 pounds. This little guy deserves a great home, for sure. If we don't have any takers soon, though, we will have to take him to the shelter. (Less)

Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Adult

Tulsa is a wonderful, athletic, and smart companion who loves her people as well as walks. Although she just turned 9, she shows no signs of slowing down, and loves to run around outside, play tug, or do tricks such as jumping through a hoop or over a stick. We adopted Tulsa 8 years ago from a rescue organization, and have had great adventures with her, including two cross-country moves. Unfortunately, we have a one-year-old baby and have not been able to make Tulsa's high energy compatible with our child's high energy, while still giving Tulsa the active lifestyle and loving attention she deserves. Tulsa is a wonderful dog, but needs ... (Read More)boundaries, as she had some aggression problems (primarily with other dogs, but with some strangers who tried to approach her) when she was about 3 years old. She does okay with some male dominant dogs, but not well with female dogs or small dogs. She has calmed down quite a bit over the years, and loves going on runs, hikes, or just cuddling on the couch with her people. She knows her commands (sit, stay, lie down, heel, shake, jump, roll over, pretty) and you can even train her to go potty in a specific area. She is crate trained and loves her crate. She has had no health problems and still has quite a bit of energy. She loves runs, but she is fine as long as she gets walks every day. We love Tulsa and would really like to find her a home where she gets the attention she deserves. (Less)

Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Young Adult

Adorable and friendly Blue Merle. Tanker loves attention and play. He will protect the home while not being overly aggressive. He thinks he's a lap dog! We inherited him when my teenage son's dad died. We've kept him for over a year, but in our suburban home, he does not have the room to run around, nor the attention his breed so deserves and needs for a happy life.

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Nakota is a wonderful dog who needs a little more structure in his life when meeting new people. He gets worried living on a horse boarding facility because of all the activity. I rescued him from a man who was keeping him crated 22 out of 24 hours of the day. He bonds very strongly with his 'family' and welcomes outsiders after meeting them a few times. He is NEVER aggressive but does get nervous around strangers the first few times. Kota knows all of his basic commands and is learning more advanced commands because he is starting agility training. He walks on a loose leash with just a regular collar. He will follow you on horseback to go ... (Read More)trail riding. He gets along with EVERY dog on the face of this earth and has NO interest in chasing/killing/eating anything.. even tasty looking rabbits. He does excellent off-leash as well and will follow you on a bike, golf cart, quad etc. He rides in the car/truck like a champ.. gets in and immediately curls up and goes to sleep. He loves swimming, hiking, playing fetch (he brings the ball or stick back and drops it on command. He wont touch it while it's in your hand either), going to the dog park, going to the beach, and anything that involves exercise. He loves kids as well! Please understand his need for exercise. He is not a couch potato. He would be great for someone wanting an agility or fly-ball dog after he gains some confidence. Please have experience training a dog with nervousness around people (no touch, no talk, no eye contact). He is a really cool dog and needs an equally cool, fun, adventurous owner. If at any point you can not keep him for any reason, he will be returned to me. Please be SERIOUS about adopting him before you contact me! No one likes their time wasted, and neither do I. Prepare to drive to SOLVANG CA. This will not work if you live 3 states away and are not prepared to drive that far for a dog. Kota is approximately 4-5 years old and he is for an EXPERIENCED dog owner. (Less)

Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Vaccinations Current, Deaf, Fearful/Anxious

I have this dog almost 6 months, so he is probably at least 2 years old, from what the vet figures. I had him fixed and current vaccines because I have 2 dogs. I am an animal lover so I tried to fit him in here. I just do t have the time to work with him. He is high energy, unlike my dogs. He wants to play or be with a companion. He is a good watch dog. I need to find him a suitable home. I have cats also. He doesn't hurt them, but he barks and lunges at them in the window. My home is just not the place for him. I don't want to have to take him to a shelter so I am hoping he finds a home here.

Meet Ranger. This handsome speckled boy is a 6 year old Australian Cattle Dog/Lab mix. Abandoned by his owner, he was saved by a good samaritan who helped to find a rescue for him. He is now looking for his forever home. Ranger is a healthy 79 pounds of speckles and wagging tail. He is good with other dogs, even little dogs, and sometimes wants to play. He also enjoys a good game of tag with his person, barking for more when you stop. He has the right amount of energy to be a nice walking companion. He will ask for your attention, too, if you are ignoring him. He very much wants to interact with his person. Ranger appreciates having his ... (Read More)rear end scratched just at the base of the tail. Some nice scratching and some dog cookies and this guy is your pal. Ranger walks nicely on a leash and rides politely in the car. He hasn't shown any food aggression and generally takes his treats gently. Ranger has already learned 'sit' and other basic obedience commands. He is currently attending public obedience classes and doing very well. He also enjoys regular walks. Ranger isn't a fan of being brushed. This and an interest in taking goodies off of the counter appear to be his only faults. Ideally, Ranger would get a home with a large, fenced yard. He loves to run around, especially if his people will run around in the yard with him. He seems to have low prey drive since he isn't interested in squirrels. That means that cats are probably just find in Ranger's company. He is house trained, uses the dog for, and settles nicely when invited in. Ranger is neutered, up to date on shots, and microchipped. He is ready for his home. Because of his size, toddlers and small kids are not a fit for him. Older kids are fine. A vet reference, personal references, and home visit are required as part of the adoption process. Send an e-mail and an adoption application will be sent to you to begin the process. Ranger is being fostered in Simi Valley. (Less)

Rose was on death row at Lancaster Animal Shelter. She was brought in by a man who has a basset hound rescue because he was at capacity. At 3 years old she was one of the ones that would be harder to adopt, but a group of us recognized just how wonderful she could be. We had a forever home for her in Northern California, I sprang her from doggie jail and was her transportation, but her home fell through due complications at the family's home. I am fostering her until I can find her a forever home. Her temperament is wonderful, she is so sweet and gentle towards other DOGS and PEOPLE. I just wouldn't suggest she be in a home with cats, unless ... (Read More)they are outdoor cats that are separate from the dogs - Rose chases our indoor cats, she does not growl or bark at them, but she goes into hot pursuit if she sees them. She is not dominant and always is willing to wait her turn with my other dogs - even the little chaweenie. She is friendly to all people that she meets and needs a home where she can be what she is best, a companion. Rose is approximately 4 years old ... she needs a home with someone who is willing to give her the attention she deserves, she would benefit from a simple obedience class, though she is excellent on a leash and LOVES walks. She is also kennel trained, housebroken, and will always sit for a treat. Rose is a runner - some dogs are. These doesn't make them a bad dog, it just means you have to have a fenced in yard with a secure gate and know that if you are outside of the yard the dog must be on a leash. She LOVES freedom, don't we all? So if she has the opportunity she will RUN - but she will keep looking back at you like, 'Aren't you coming? Isn't this wonderful?! Can't you smell these great smells? Come on!' I can't keep her as she is not a fit for my family ... I already have an APBT that is dominant and he vies for all of the big dog attention. I also have cats that do not understand why one of my dogs wants to love and snuggle with them and the other wants to chase them and try to eat them. Rose is up to date on her shots, is licensed in Kern County, and is micro chipped. The YouTube video is of Rose sharing her food with our little dog Lilly, Rose is so sweet! If you, or someone you know, would like to give this special girl a forever home, please contact me! (661) 412-3179 or kayk79@gmail.com PLEASE - ROSE needs and deserves a forever home where she can always come inside and lay by your feet while you watch TV, or hang out by your side while you putter around in the backyard. She really loves just hanging out with you. She's not one to chase a ball, I throw one for her and she looks at me like, 'Yeah, and now what?' Instead she just likes to run Indy 500 laps around the yard stopping each lap to lick my hand and say 'Hi' then after about 4 laps she just sits next to me and enjoys watching the world go by. I currently cannot walk her - and she LOVES walks! I was in a SEVERE automobile accident last year and fractured my pelvis. My heart breaks because I feel like I am the worst foster mom to this wonderful sweet girl - so please, let's find Rose a forever home! (Less)

lnteresting Australian Cattle Dog Trivia Low-Cost California Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Cattle Dogs were bred by 19th century Australian pioneers to herd cattle on large ranches. Most Australian Cattle Dogs have a star-shaped marking on their foreheads called the Bentley Mark, after dog owner Thomas Bentley, whose purebred dog supposedly passed this mark on to all genuine Australian Cattle Dogs. The Australian Cattle Dog nips at a cow's heels to keep it in line with the herd, and may apply this technique to its humans from time to time as well.
