Karma is a sweet girl. She loves to play because she is still a puppy. She is a true mutt from the shelter and now an owner surrender. She cracks me up at adoptions. She found a rosemary bush and decided to roll in it. We then took some rosemary to her crate. She would gently pick it up with her mouth, move it to the center, and then roll on it. When you talk to her she tilts her head from side to side. She would make a good hiking dog. She gets along with other dogs.

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This classically colored girl is Rose, a 10 month's old Aussie/Cattledog mix. Rose is a very pretty girl. She weighs just under 40 pounds and may grow a bit more. Rose is a gem, ready for the right home. She is looking for a home that can keep her busy. She is smart and already knows wait and sit. House training will be easy since she already knows to go to her crate and sleep without I i sent all night. She also alerts when t is time to get up and go out to potty. Rose is people friendly. She is learning not to jump in people when she is excited to see them, so a home with small kids may not be a fit in case she accidentally knocks them ... (Read More)over. Rose is nice with other dogs. She really wants to play, so she is annoying the older dog she lives with. A younger dog who wants a playmate would make a great sibling for Rose. Rose will also be a quick study with fetch. She loves the ball and will chase it. She brings it most of the way back, so it will take little work to get her to understand the game. Rose will be a fantastic adventure partner. She is good on leash and will pull a bit. She is also learning about car rides and rides nicely in a crate. Just a little more exposure should have her loving the car. Rose very much wants to engage with people. She is also very treat motivated. That means that she will be easy to train. She needs a home that knows how to keep an active pup busy and gives enough stimulation that she doesn't have to look for things to occupy her. Rose is spayed (on May 10) and up to date on vaccinations. We do not ship our dogs. She is available for a meeting and adoption in SoCal. A home visit and vet reference are required. (Less)

This red cutie is Hailee. She is a Cattledog mix female who was born in mid-November. She currently weighs about 20 pounds. Hailee is an active girl looking for an active home. She is already starting leash training and is fine in the car. She will continue to improve with each outing. Hailee is house and crate trained. She also knows sit. She likes to learn. Hailee is friendly with people. She does have a tendency to resource guard, which is easily corrected verbally. However, we won't place her in a home with small kids because of that. Older kids are fine. Hailee is good with dogs her size or larger. That said, she is very into her ... (Read More)people. She would be just as happy as an only dog. A home with a larger established male dog is also fine. Hailee is really a girl looking for a home that takes her out and about, gives her plenty of fetching time, then let's her cuddle. She is an inside dog and can climb, so she should not be left outside for extended periods of time without supervision. Hailee is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. Rescue Me ID: 18-05-01-00027CHELSEA (female)

Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Chelsea is very active, smart, easy to train girl. She is also a very sweet, happy, loving dog, who stays nearby her person, if she can. In the morning when she hears her human starting to wake up, she jumps up on his bed and licks his face, wagging her little stumpy tail. Chelsea has been an inside dog her whole life. She shadows her person, following him around to be beside him where ever he is in the house. At her 8 years of age, Chelsea is still very full of energy. She needs to run every day. Since she was a pup, her people have had a dog walker take her out every weekday while they are away at work. She is accustomed to getting a lot ... (Read More)of exercise, with a group of other dogs. Chelsea is a bit timid at times, and very cautious when meeting new people. She will eventually warm up to people she hasn't met before, if they simply ignore her. Once Chelsea is around someone enough, she not only warms up to them but loves them forever. When human friends, who have moved away, return to visit, Chelsea whines with delight. She can hardly contain herself, wagging her entire backside at the front door, and leads them into the house, still wagging her backside, while vigorously maintaining eye contact over her shoulder, with her little doggie smile. She is a wonderful, loving dog, who needs a home with someone who will love her back. She is NOT comfortable around children, and tends to avoid them.%A0She just wants to be left alone when children want to pet her. She has never tried to bite anyone, but just tries to avoid interaction. That said, she has warmed up to her person's 3 year old son, and now greets him in the morning with doggie kisses and a wagging stumpy tail. Having been in group walks with other dogs since she was a pup, Chelsea will run and play with the other dogs during their group outings.%A0She seems to bond closely with only a few dogs, like with her best friend ever, Killian the Great Dane. We haven't seen Chelsea meet cats close up, but when on leash walks, she lunges at cats they come across. Her person believes it could just be her attempt at keeping others away from him.%A0 As a cattle dog, Chelsea is always working, always trying to herd.%A0She stopped nipping at heels when she was a pup, and isn't mouthy. Sometimes she feels the need to maintain order in the pack, and in a harmless way, herd the other dogs.%A0She is good at playing fetch with a ball and would take to a frisbee if she were introduced to it. Because she gets her daily exercise and fun things to do, she is calm and relaxed during down time at home or wherever she is. Chelsea is smart%A0as they come and with the right motivation (chicken/cheese) learns new commands very quickly. She is very attentive to her human, and very much wants to please. Chelsea is always ready to do whatever he asks, and whatever he is up for. Chelsea is completely housebroken. She does not like being in a crate and is not crate trained. She is used to, and fine being free in the house. Chelsea walks fairly well on leash, though she does zig zag a little. If she sees a cat or another dog she will pull. Chelsea loves car rides, and jumps right into the front seat when you open the door.%A0She cocks her head and wags her little stump tail when her person asks her if she wants to go for a ride in the car. %A0 She doesn't have any truly bad habits at home. She is not a chewer, except if she gets a bully stick or other chew treat, and she is not a digger. Chelsea doesn't bark a lot.%A0She will bark at razor scooters and skateboards, and at other dogs on the other side of the fence, or sometimes on walks. Chelsea does guard only two things against other dogs, only - her chosen person and her backyard. When her special person is nearby, she will let other dogs know to keep their distance. If another dog or a person approaches her special human, and Chelsea feels a threat from them, she will growl/bark/lunge.%A0However, she has NEVER bitten anyone.%A0 She only guards her favorite person, and does not show this behavior when with other members of the family. Her person adopted Chelsea from the San Francisco SPCA, when she was 6 month old:%A0 'She walked right up to me and sat in my lap, and the rest is history.' Each time her people moved they worked with her to gradually get her used to the new place, by only leaving her alone for a short time at firs, and then increasing her time alone over the course of a few days.%A0Her people noticed that each time a major change happened in their lives, she had an adjustment phase that they needed to work through. %A0 If you are interested in meeting Chelsea, please begin the pre-adoption approval process by completing our online adoption form, at: http://hittgv.org/index.php/adopt .     Cullen flew in from Riverside A.S., care of Pilots N Paws pilot Aaron. Thanks Aaron!! Thanks Pilots n Paws!! Not sure about his back story, but the shelter liked him so much, they kept him alive for 37 days! That is a feat at Riverside. Very congested. He's been on his first pack hike and this boy is classic, the heeler that won't leave your side! No leash required. It's mostly male dogs here right now and Cullen has gotten on beautifully with all of them. He hops in the van and is really good. No issues in the yard. Hes pretty happy to be out of the shelter and in a home, with other dogs and lots of exercise, food and water. He is a ... (Read More)swimmer btw! So great to watch in the creek or on the trail. Just a curious, sweet and pretty outgoing little red heeler. His coat is a tad fluffy, so he might have something else in there. Beautiful 10 month old boy!     Only about 7 months old. What a dude! Duke was discovered pretty much on someone's doorstep, complete with harness. He was not microchipped, and no one came looking for him. His Good Sam's went through proper channels in Madera county and then got him here to find him the best home. He's a complete sweety and beautiful (he has guyliner). Obviously Australian Cattle dog and boxer. Duke is adorable. He loves everyone. Great with the pack and he's having a blast. Play, play, play! And, we haven't even gotten him to the creek yet. Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

Great pups. They are about a year old and are very active. They have played rough with each other and do have a couple of marks on their snouts. They are somewhat good with people, I live in the country so there is not a whole lot of human interaction. They have not shown aggressiveness towards people. Bleu (spotted white) has nipped at my niece a few times, not to be mean, we believe it was just the cattle dog/Queensland heeler instinct to herd. Bishop can be dominant and stubborn at times. He is VERY stubborn when it come to being on a leash or taking a bath. Overall they would make great pets to the right home.

I have to re-home my dog. Chelsea is an 8 year old Australian Cattle Dog. She was adopted from the ASPCA in SF when she was a 6 month old pup. She walked right up to me and sat in my lap, and the rest is history. She's very active and smart, easy to train, hallmarks for her breed. We've had a walker take her out every weekday while we're at work, so she's used to getting lots of exercise, with a group of other dogs. Vet visit records are on file and vaccinations are up to date. She is a bit timid at times, and has a weird thing about doors - at first it took some effort to get her through doorways, and even now she won't push a door ... (Read More)open with her muzzle like most other dogs do. We figured there may have been something off with her care before she arrived in SF. Other than that, she has pretty normal behavior for her breed. Chelsea has never bitten anyone. She isn't great with kids, (she will back away from them) although she is finally starting to bond with my 3 year old. Besides, she is a great, happy, loving dog. I'll miss my morning wakeups. If you can give Chelsea a wonderful home, please email me at david.r.nixon@gmail.com or call me at 415-819-9160 There is a $75 adoption fee to assure serious inquiries and good intentions. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-04-17-00021Buttercup (female)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Buttercup is maybe a year to 18 mos. old, barely out of puppyhood. Yet, we rescued her 2-weeks before she gave birth to her puppies. She is a quiet, very loving and sweet natured, cattle dog mix, who weighs approximately 25 lbs. With her short legs, we suspect she may have a bit of Corgi in her, along with some mystery breeds. Buttercup is a wonderful mother to her puppies, but she also loves to be with her people, and will frequently leave the puppies to be near her humans, or to check out any activity around the house. Sometimes her fosters will wake up in the middle of the night to find that Buttercup has joined them in bed, and as ... (Read More)close to someone as she can be, usually with her head buried under their pillow. We see some cattle dog traits in Buttercup. She will look you in the eye with an intelligence and expressiveness that is almost human. She also uses her paws like hands. Buttercup came to us knowing a few things. She is housebroken, and seems to know right from wrong when it comes to household rules. She also knows the sit command. Buttercup has a few tricks up her sleeve, and will make you smile or laugh. She is an expert at offering her paw when you tell her 'high five' or 'paw' or 'shake' - nothing deters her from putting that paw in your hand when you ask for it, especially if a treat is involved. Give Buttercup a fluffy blanket and she will make her own bed, often digging and flipping it around with her muzzle until she has arranged it to her liking, and then she will bury herself deep inside, with just the tip of her nose poking out. Since she her puppies were born, she relishes her opportunities to take long breaks in the sunshine, rolling around on the grass. As a very young dog, barely out of puppyhood herself, Buttercup would do best in a home that can provide her with both mental stimulation and physical activities. She seems to be a moderate energy dog, but she is athletic and loves to play ball. She would love several walks a day, to sniff and explore, and some active and interactive play time with her people. Buttercup walks fairly nicely on leash, and is always excited to go on walks. She is very aware of all that goes on around her, bounding after lizards and leaves blown by the wind. She is currently living at her foster home with four cats. In the beginning, it took some management to condition her not to chase. After she seemed to realize that they did not enjoy this game, her urges to chase them have faded. Buttercup is now good at letting them wander about, without wanting to make them run. Because Buttercup is mostly inside with her puppies, we have not had many opportunities to see her with other dogs. However, at the shelter, they had her living in an area interacting with several other young social dogs and pups. We believe that if given the choice, she would prefer the company of people over dogs. Buttercup is what her fosters call a 'good dog.' She will make someone a wonderful companion. Our girl will be available to go to a new home after her puppies are weaned, around May 15th. We will schedule her spay surgery after the appropriate amount of time, as advised by our veterinarian. As with all of our dogs, she will be up-to-date on her vaccinations, microchipped and started on heart worm prevention. If you are interested in meeting Buttercup, please begin our pre-adoption approval process by completing our online adoption form, at our website: hittgv.org. click on 'Adopt' at the top of the page, for our online Adoption Form. She is an excellent passenger in the car and likes to go out and about with her person. %A0Kitty is quite personable. She loves people of all ages and genders. She is polite with other dogs when out and about. She likes to play with other dogs who respect her interest in being the number one dog. Playing chase with other dogs at the dog park is fun for her. When at home, she can be bossy with other dogs. She thinks she is the queen bee...and she is! Her new home will need to just remind her that she shouldn't be bossy. As for cats, she is interested but hasn't directly interacted with one. Kitty is an absolute gem of a dog. She is very intelligent and loves people. The person who gets to adopt Kitty will be very lucky indeed. Kitty is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. We do not ship our dogs.     Patches came into rescue after being adopted from our local shelter as a puppy by an elderly couple that found themselves unable to keep up with Patches high energy. She's looking for an active family/adopter that's ready to hit the road and explore. Patches will need an experienced adopter that can handle a dominate, high energy pup.     Cash came from California City when he was approximately 3 weeks old. Raising a pup that was too young to be away from his mom has been trying, but we've made it through and now he's ready for adoption! Cash is a Cattle dog/ Border Collie/ Australian Shepherd according to his wisdom panel results. He is extremely high energy as most herding dogs are but I expect he'll mellow out a bit around 3 years old. While he is good with children ages 8 and above are advised due to his energy level. Cash is okay with our indoor cats but gives chase to outdoor cats, so I would not suggest a home with small animals running around freely or low fence ... (Read More)lines. Access to livestock is also NOT advised as he has gotten injured more than once while running around the horses. We've been working with him to train him to dock dive and he is doing great, he LOVES the water!!! Given a job/task Cash will excel! He's ready to hit the road and explore all that nature has to offer, do agility or be your daily running partner. **Pets will not be shipped nor transported to adopter. Rescue Me ID: 18-03-16-00011Dayzee (female)

Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This classic gal is Dayzee. She is a 2 year old Australian Cattledog who was a stray at a shelter. Now she is a nice girl enjoying time in a foster home until the right person comes asking to adopt her. Dayzee is a very special girl. She is looking for a home equally as special. Dayzee was likely beaten, and likely by a man. That has left her skittish. She does not trust easily. A new home for her needs to not have kids, simply because they will scare her. The home should be patient and quiet. The home should likely have no men, unless it's a visitor to the house. The people should be willing to go slow and be prepared to help her learn the ... (Read More)basics. Her new home also has to be comfortable knowing she will likely never go to a dog beach or dog park. She may never be great on a leash. Dayzee is fine with other dogs. She isn't interested in being best pals. So, a quiet dog pal would be just fine for her. Daisy is already house trained. She is a diamond in the rough who will settle in slowly. If you are this person, you will receive Dayzee's love. It's so worth it. Once she knows you, she likes to steal your spot on the couch and not get up. She will also lay on your legs while you watch TV. This girl will be very dedicated to those she discovers are trustworthy. Dayzee is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. Any potential adopters must be able to meet and adopt her in Southern CA. We do not ship our dogs. A home visit and vet reference are required.     June with Sean Quinn This classic blue girl is June. This leggy gal has a docked tail and weighs about 35 pounds. She is a 2.5 year old Cattledog who is looking for a home that has herding breed experience. June is a smart girl. She knows her basic obedience commands. She is also house trained and crate trained. June is a fence jumper, so will need a home that takes her with them or keeps her inside. When her people are around, she sticks around. She is very loyal. She loves to take car rides, walks well on leash, and does fine walking through the hardware store as a shopping companion. June warms up to women first, then men. So her new ... June can tend to guard her place, so her new home has to understand how to help her meet new folks. Her new home also should know that June is more of a typical Cattledog. He's very easily managed without any medications or special equipment. He's super intelligent, housetrained, knows how to use a doggie door, and knows lots of commands. He's also vaccinated, micropchipped, and neutered. Now all he ... (Read More)needs is to find his forever home. He has lived with two medium/large dogs and can potentially live with other appropriate, tolerant medium dogs if introduced properly. He plays very well with my medium dog. He does not get along with small dogs. He has also lived with cats and is fine with mellow ones. He will bark at them if they move erratically or show fear. He has also lived with foster kittens and has done well. He has been around older, dog-savvy kids but would not be ideal for a first-time dog owner. He is partially muzzle-trained for occasions when a situation could be too stressful for him (vet visits, exposure to unfamiliar people in new environments, etc.) He loves to go for long walks and hikes, fetch tennis balls, chew on bones and toys, and work for treats. He can also entertain himself well and does not appear to have any separation anxiety or similar issues. He just needs a place to call his own, where he feels safe and comfortable. His rescue organization is Love That Dog Hollywood, but he has been in my home as a foster. I'd be happy to share additional details or answer any questions about this wonderful little guy! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-15-00693Lucky (male)

Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Named Lucky because he truly is, this guy is a 5 year old Australian Cattledog who weighs about 27 pounds. Lucky is the kind of dog whose love you earn and, when you do, he is your best friend forever. He has had a rough time of it and a good samaritan stepped in to help him. Lucky, indeed. Now, he is looking for a home who doesn't mind taking it just a bit slow at first. Simple little things make all of the difference to him, such as talking to him before coming up to him, so he knows you are coming his way. Gentle leadership will help him relax and become even more wonderful than he already is. His foster mom wishes that she had fewer ... (Read More)dogs, so she could keep him. Lucky is a typically Cattledog in that he sometimes wonders about bigger dogs. He likes small dogs and would be fine with another medium-larger dog who isn't interested in being number one. He is also uninterested in the cat in the house, so should be fine with cats. Lucky is a smart guy. He learned his name in under a week. We don't know what his name was before he came to us. Also, he is house trained. He knows his basic commands: sit, stay, quiet, and come. He is initially excited to go on an adventure, but stops pulling on the leash after just a bit. He will walk right at your side, ready for whatever fun is in store. He does love car rides. He thinks that he would like to help drive by sitting on your lap. So, he is learning to stay on his side and will benefit from a dog seatbelt or crate in the car. Mostly, Lucky is a guy who wants a committed relationship. He has a cute smile, missing one tooth. When happy, he will come up and put his head on your chest. If you lay down on the floor, he is likely to come up and lay curled up against your arm. Once he loves, he loves deeply. Lucky is neutered and is current on his rabies vaccination. He will be up to date on his other vaccinations and microchipped before adoption. Lucky is ready to meet potential adopters in Southern CA. Out of area adopters will be happily referred to our favorite rescue partners. (Less)
