Hello! My son needs to rehome his 17 month old half Pit/half Heeler. He is tall, not short/stocky like a Pit. He is so sweet and definitely your best friend! He is neutered and up on all of his shots, is micro chipped and potty trained. My son is enlisting in the Army and can't take him, and we can't keep him long-term as we already have 4 dogs and 4 cats. He loves his people. He's great with the dogs he grew up with and great with other dogs when introduced gradually, but needs some work with 'stranger' dogs and should should be on a leash. He is loyal and loving and a goofball too! If interested and want more pictures, please let me ... (Read More)know. Thanks! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-05-16-00251Sawyer (male)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're unwanted and at risk of euthanasia at a high- kill shelter. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great New Mexico rescuer in saving Sawyer...she could see that his temperament was so sweet and kind that she couldn't allow him to be euthanized. Farfel's was immediately contacted by Sawyer's rescuer...we were thrilled to welcome this loving and beautiful puppy into our rescue. It turns out that Sawyer, at just about 15 weeks old and approximately 10 lbs (expected to be ... (Read More)approximately 28 - 35 lbs when full-grown) is so lovable, super-smart and so very sweet that it's been a fun and rewarding experience for his rescuer and foster mom. Sawyer is like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around him. If he continues his current regimen with his foster of socialization that promotes positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans...Sawyer will become a well-adjusted and very loving adult companion. Puppy kindergarten followed by positive reinforcement group obedience class will get this very smart puppy ready for a life of inclusion with his family. Through these classes, Sawyer will learn cause and effect in his relationship with other dogs. He will also view his people as his leaders, therefore developing a desire to please and to be partners with his family. Sawyer would also be a natural for agility classes and fly ball. He would have so much fun and come to enjoy this special time spent with his favorite humans. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement trainers in your area. Sawyer is a gorgeous Cattle Dog/Border Collie mix puppy with a shining, cottony-soft coat that speaks of his breed mix. His stunning coat will require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is an amazing life-long supplement for coat care and longevity). A family that loves Sawyer like crazy is exactly the type of folks we're searching for for this silly/fun, entertaining and very loving puppy. We also feel it's very important that he is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. Sawyer will be overjoyed if his future holds hikes along Colorado trails enjoying the sunshine. Socializing with other hikers and their dogs will definitely speak to the engaging nature of this wonderful puppy. We'd love a family for Sawyer that spends lots of time at home.. and chooses to include a fuzzy best friend in their activities. Sawyer can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community. He can therefore accompany his family just about anywhere with the assurance that he'll be a social and appropriate guy. Sawyer will be arriving in Boulder unfixed due to his very young age. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs in regard to his neuter, microchip and any additional puppy shots he might require if our Denver vet is used. Sawyer will be arriving on transport in Denver in mid-May (we'll confirm the date as soon as it's finalized). Applications are currently being accepted for this extremely sweet and cuddly best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out and submit. **PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Sawyer, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving guy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-05-13-00113Amber-ADOPTION PENDING (female)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Amber, at 3 months old and just about 10 lbs (anticipated full-grown weight of 38 - 42 lbs) was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's New Mexico rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this wonderful dog so filled with love...they rescued Amber just in time. This sweet and engaging Labrador Retriever/Cattle Dog mix, while initially just a bit shy until comfortable ... (Read More)in her surroundings, is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. Amber is also incredibly beautiful...with the purest of white hair with a touch of gold that decorate her soft as cotton coat. Amber is part of a new breed mix that is drawing people's attention...and therefore opportunistically bred for quick sales. She is a sweet as can be and super-smart Australian Cattle Dog mixed with a Labrador Retriever...hoping for the smaller size and super-intelligence of the Cattle Dog mixed with the very easy-going and agreeable nature of the Lab. Amber is the perfect size to accompany her family on long hikes (both Labs and Cattle Dogs are excellent hiking companions and love the togetherness!) or any fun and active adventures. She would be a natural at agility or flyball..having the enthusiasm and sense of fun to love the challenge. Amber is appropriately playful and fun-loving for her young age. She's also bright and so loving...clearly having no memory of her scary start. Amber absolutely loves her humans (as well as her canine foster brother) and is so excited to spend quality time together. Amber is an extremely loving pup (and the perfect size to be a take-along girl) who loves to cuddle close and is over the moont for special belly rubs and kind words. Since Amber is just a young pup, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion - she will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through puppy kindergarten followed by positive reinforcement group obedience classes (Farfel's Rescue is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in you area). It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with excellent behavior. We're open to Amber finding her forever home with an active retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a young, active and very smart dog. Amber is great with children as well but we would prefer to place her in a home with older kids that can handle her gently so she learns that children are wonderful best friends. Amber will be up to date on her vetting. We're hoping that she will be spayed when she arrives from New Mexico, however there are far too many dogs and not enough vets in this impoverished area of New Mexico. If she isn't fixed, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Amber to be spayed/microchipped at our Denver vet to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Amber will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 5/19/18. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If you're interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out our application and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Amber, please be sure to fill out our adoption application.     Marley Australian Cattle Dog Mix Male 5 years old 50 lbs. Do you believe in love at first sight? I sure do! I love everyone at first sight. I mean everyone. I'm Marley and I warm up to everyone right away and melt their hearts instantly with my sweet, loving nature. I'm very relaxed and love to cuddle, but I also have plenty of energy to play and run. Basically the best of both worlds. My love extends to kids, and to dogs too, but sometimes I get a little too excited when playing with smaller dogs. The only things I don't love so much are cats, so it's probably better for my forever home to be cat-free. So what do you think, are you up ... (Read More)for some Marley-love at first sight?     Guess who is finally ready to find their forever home, ODIN! Odin is a Pointer mix, now about 4.5 months old. Odin became a BDDR pup when we learned about his back leg issues. He was unable to bend them or walk when he first joined our rescue about 2 months back. He has been doing PT, water therapy, and seen many vets. He has made great progress although his back legs still don't really bend. He has completely learned to be a normal dog and can walk around, play, go on adventures, etc. with his foster family. Nothing stops him! (you can view videos of him running around on our facebook page at facebook.com/brighterdaysdogrescue. He is ... We would love for him to go to a family who has lots of time to spend with him, and maybe even another dog for him to run around and play with. A family who can continue with PT and help him grow. He is so beyond loving and special! We know the most perfect family is out there for Odin! If you are interested in adopting Odin, please fill out our application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com (Less)

They are active dogs so they will need to be in a home with an active human, a doggy sibling, or someone who loves to train/play with their dog daily. If you are interested in giving either Henry or one of his 8 siblings a home, please email us at brighterdaysdogrescue@gmail.com or fill out an application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com (Less)

Oscar is a 9 week old Heeler mix. At 9 weeks old she still only weighs about 7-8lbs. We believe he will be around 30-35 when full grown. Oscar and his siblings were an 'accidental litter' in Texas. Luckily our wonderful rescue partners were able to intercept the puppies ending up in the shelter at just two days old. They were bottle fed and very well taken care of until they were 8 weeks old and ready to travel to CO. They are now in CO and ready to start the search for their forever homes! These pups are beyond sweet, playful, loving, and SMART! They seem to already understand the concept of potty training, and love playing with the ... (Read More)bigger dogs in the home.     This sweet girl is named Cleo and she is searching a loving and forever home. Cleo's owners were unable to keep her due to their living situation, so she is now in foster care outside of Colorado City. Cleo is a 4 yr. old blue heeler/ rottweiler mix, she loves other dogs and would do best in a home with lots of room to run or with somebody who will take her hiking. She has been raised with children and was in a home with a cat, she did however like to chase the cat, but only for fun, she never harmed the cat. I think Cleo would do okay with farm animals as she seems non-reactive to all animals I have introduced her to, but a meet and ... (Read More)greet would be the best way to decide. Cleo is spayed, UTD on shots, microchipped, and housebroken. Her adoption fee is $75. A home check and reference check are required. He's great with the dogs he grew up with and great with other dogs when introduced gradually, but needs some work with 'stranger' dogs. He gets nervous when he meets other dogs, especially if they run up on him, and he can take that as aggression and react to that, ... (Read More)but as long as he's leashed and introduced slowly, he's then fine and chill about it. He is loyal and loving and a a goofball too! If interested and want more pictures, please let me know.     ATTN: CANNOT BE ADOPTED IN CO, AS THEIR LAWS ARE TOUGH ON SMALL RESCUES. LONG DISTANCE TRANSPORT OPTIONS TO ADJOINING CLOSE STATES.. WILL DISCUSS AND CONSIDER. OWNER SURRENDER: Owners input below. ( Bodi was adopted by the owners at 4 months old . He weighs 60 pounds. Bodie) is a highly intelligent, curious dog who needs daily vigorous exercise, mental stimulation, and affection. As long as he gets enough of those things, he does great being left alone in the house for up to 8 hours when necessary (usually 5-6 hours is the norm). In the 3 years we've had him, I can count the times that he has chewed or destroyed something on 1 hand. He has ... (Read More)never scratched doors, gotten into the trash, or chewed up shoes - amazing! Bodi also does well in the car and on road trips. He's great about staying in the back of my station wagon, even when left alone in the car (when weather appropriate of course!) Although he is a very spunky and energetic dog, he's actually quite mellow at home, as long as he gets his morning exercise (30 min running or 45-60 min walking) and two or three 10-15 minute neighborhood walks during the day. Since we live in a townhouse, Bodi has never gotten to experience the gift of having a yard. He will be in absolute heaven if someone with a yard adopts him (but Catahoulas want to with their people so we do not sanction them becoming yard dogs who are left unsupervised for long periods.. they get lonesome and bored and they find a way to get your attention. Bodi is friendly to everyone we allow into our home, although he jumps up a lot on visitors, (this can be worked with. we are behavior Specialists and give unlimited help) especially those who aren't 'dog people'. He has been great with all of Alex's friends, but I would be cautious around small children and babies. He could be easily overwhelmed. Probably no to small tots. He has a few dog friends that we hike with and he does great with them. But he is selective and can be reactive with certain types of dogs, especially those that exhibit fear and aggression simultaneously. The biggest challenge with Bodi is his leash reactivity and the hyper-vigilance that he exhibits near our house and around the neighborhood. He has been very leash-reactive when walking with my husband or me, but is much less reactive when my son walks Bodi. And when we are not on his neighborhood 'turf' he is much more relaxed. However, due to Bodi's personality and physical strength, we are extremely careful about allowing him to interact with other dogs or people when we're out on walks. I believe that this issue could be resolved if Bodi had a stronger 'leader' that had more time and motivation to work with him on breaking his focus and redirecting his attention. I have worked with him quite a bit on this but have fallen short on consistency and have not put in the time required to correct this issue. Janeen can do what most trainers and behaviorists cannot and gives unlimited help successfully. She will work you through any issues. I have recently separated from my husband and am not able to care for Bodi in the ways that he needs in order to be happy and thrive. I work full time and am away from home 8-10 hours a day. Although we have a dog walker that helps out in the middle of the day, Bodi is a dog that needs an owner/ leader that has more time to play and actively work with him. This has been a long and difficult decision for me and my son. Bodi is an amazing dog, and I'm praying that the right person or family will find him and experience the love, affection and joy that he has given to us. (ADMIN NOTES) Long distance adoptions can be highly successful. We will screen for commitment. There is more in a longer bio about Bodi and an adopter will be speaking with owner and Janeen. This is a good boy.. he just needs the right home with real leadership, not a boss or trainer. Once we get your app we will give you more info on Bodi. He is worth checking out. (Less)
