Susie is Very well and easily trained to voice and hand command. Susie Does not chew, bark, jump, lick face, beg, or whine. Cage and leash trained. Actually says 'out'. She wants to please you. Susie stood her ground as a puppy against a large coyote less than 15 feet away (stay) in our front yard, which howled and growled and Backed us up to our entrance. Then (run, run, run,) We both ran for the door. However, she would not be considered a protective dog due to her submissive nature. She is great with adults, children, dogs and cats. She tends to 'herd' small children But easily learns not to. Everyone Falls in love with her Good nature And is impressed by her manners. It breaks my heart to give her up. I would like to see her in a loving home. I will arrange transport for her within 200 miles to get her a good home. Call and please leave a message. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-05-22-00440Daisy (female)

Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Daisy is available for foster or adoption. We are a foster-based rescue and always looking for foster families! Daisy is currently fostered in Dade City, FL (Pasco County). Daisy is a petite heeler girl of 25 lbs and about a year old. She is funny with people and will need a rescue-friendly adopter in a calm home willing to work on trust with her. She can go from excitement to see you and cuddliness to growling. She is a very people-centric dog as many heelers are. She is food motivated and has not shown interest in toys or playing with other dogs, though she coexists fine with others. She certainly does not like hyper dogs in her face. She ... (Read More)has good recall and knows basic commands. She walks nicely on lead and rides well in the car. She likes to lie upside down and be silly. This girl will make a nice dog for a patient, understanding person. Daisy is housebroken, crate trained, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and preventives, and microchipped. (Less)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Athena is available for foster or adoption. We are a foster-based rescue and always looking for foster homes! Athena is currently fostered in Dade City, FL (Pasco County). Athena is a 2-year-old Australian cattle dog mix of about 40 lbs. She is a very nice girl who was surrendered for exhibiting littermate syndrome, in which she was showing dominance toward her sister. Out of that element she is doing well in her new foster home, not showing signs of bossiness with other dogs at all. She craves human attention and is a fairly typical heeler in this regard. She is easily corrected and very nonassuming. She is fairly timid around new things ... (Read More)but is an extremely sweet and loving girl. She walks nicely on lead and rides well in the car. In her previous home she lived with younger teenagers and we do think would do fine with older kids, but no toddlers. Athena is housebroken, crate trained, heartworm negative, spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines and preventives. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-05-19-00187Leelo (female)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Leelo is available for foster or adoption. We are a foster-based rescue and always looking for foster families! Leelo is currently fostered in Bradenton, FL (Manatee County). Leelo is a young cattle dog x shepherd mix who was saved from Redland, FL along with her sister, Geena. They are estimated to be between 9-12 months of age, and should be larger medium adults (approx. 45 lbs). Leelo is on the upbeat side and playful. She will carry toys around in her mouth and likes a good game of tug. She responds very very well to verbal corrections and commands. She has good drive, prey drive and an affinity for water, and would probably do well in ... (Read More)dock diving. She has no issues with noise. Leelo gets along great with other dogs of all sizes. She tends to be on the needy side, and like her sister will benefit from classes and fun activities. She is crate trained, housebroken, and walks well on lead. She is a bit sensitive about being in the car, but will get used to it with experience. Leelo and her sister would do well being adopted together or separately. They get along famously with no resource guarding noted at this time. Leelo would do well in a home with a confident dog. She needs more social and life experiences. She would make a great partner for boating hiking or jogging. She is calm and loving and has potential for therapy work as well. Leelo is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and preventives, microchipped and heartworm negative. (Less)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Geena is available for foster or adoption. We are a foster-based rescue and always looking for foster families! Geena is currently fostered in Bradenton, FL (Manatee County). Geena is a very sweet shepherd/cattle dog mix. She and her sister Leelo were saved from Redland, FL. They are estimated to be between 9-12 months of age, and will likely be larger medium-sized (approx. 45 lbs) as adults. Geena is on the submissive side, very obedient, and has a very sweet temperament. She does well with other dogs, is playful and for the most part will share her toys. A simple verbal correction goes a long way with her. She is what I would call a soft ... (Read More)dog. Somewhat cautious about new things, and she really needs to be with another dog that is confident and calm. She is not noise-sensitive, but new things are investigated in her own way and time. She does ride well in a car. Geena has a tendency to follow you around and is a bit needy. With some redirection and refocusing, i.e. classes, teaching tricks, or disc, ball, etc., the neediness should disappear. There seems to be a lot in life that she has not experienced. She exhibits the loyalty of most shepherds, and I think she could do well in some dog sports with training. At this time she does not have a lot of drive, although she love the ball and will fetch it back to you. She likes to watch and wait - you can almost see her thinking. Geena will make a great dog to bike, hike or boat with, just a good all-around companion dog. We have been separating her and her sister and they seem to do fine without each other. She does well on lead and is housebroken, crate trained, and learning basic commands. Leelo is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and preventives, microchipped and heartworm negative. (Less)

But somehow despite all that she's regained her trust in people and joy for living and is now ready to share that joy with a special, caring person or family. She is house-trained and crate-trained and learning normal dog behavior and boundaries. lnteresting Australian Cattle Dog Trivia Low-Cost Florida Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Cattle Dogs were bred by 19th century Australian pioneers to herd cattle on large ranches. Most Australian Cattle Dogs have a star-shaped marking on their foreheads called the Bentley Mark, after dog owner Thomas Bentley, whose purebred dog supposedly passed this mark on to all genuine Australian Cattle Dogs. Australian Cattle Dogs are descended from several different breeds, including Dalmatians and Smithfield Collies, which are now thought to be extinct.
