Peanut is an approximately 2 yr old heeler mix out of the puppy chewing stage. Weighing in at 31 pounds the perfect size to climb into your lap!! And that is just what she likes to do!! She just loves to be loved. I could totally see her working in a therapeutic environment with children and families. Laying around being pet, brushed, sang too... and so on. Would do well as an only dog, gets along with other animals (dogs, cats, bunnies) but prefers people. She listens very well, and goes to her crate when told to, not a big barker. She is good on leash and has decent call back off leash. Rides well in a car, house trained, and uses the ... (Read More)doggy door! Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)

Cheech is what we call a gentleman heeler. He is around 45 pounds, a beautiful blue boy. He is around 4 yrs old. Part of his lower lip is missing, but does not cause any issues whatsoever. He is calm, cool and collected. He will play with other dogs, but usually does not elicit it. He plays with toys some, but prefers chew bones and to be at your side. He will not need a leash for the most part, he is one of those loveley heelers that walk with you and always checks back to make sure you are still there. He is a snuggler and a cuddler. Loves the water and you can find him in the kiddie pool on those hot days. He is learning not to jump up on ... (Read More)people to say hello, and is very good on a leash. Learning basic manners. He would be a great companion for a ranch or farm, moderate activity level which will be tailored to whatever you would want to do.. He is a dog that is there for you! Neutered utd on shots. Cheech is hw positive and will be undergoing treatment in January. He will be available for adoption post treatment in February OR we will make an exception for someone willing to take him thru his treatment. If this is an option for you, please contact us to discuss this special wonderful boy!! 5/27 update on Cheech--He completed his hw treatment in March and is ready to go! He would prefer to be the only pup in the house altho he tolerates other dogs as long as they do not interact. He does occasionally play with other dogs, but he does not like them in his face. He is a great companion dog, and would be your buddy on trips, hiking biking or just sitting around watching the sunset!!! Fostered in Dade City, he remains the perfect gentleman heeler!! Animal ID: 15-03-27-00218Morgan (female)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Little Morgan, all 24 pounds of her, is a sweet and shy girl. She hails from Arkansas, where she and a friend were pulled from a rural shelter of despicable condition. Morgan has had her ups and downs, she was attacked in a boarding facility and had to be relocated to another facility. She is extremely timid when meeting other dogs, and will growl but will not attack. Given a day or even a few hours, when she knows she will not be hurt, she is very tolerant of other dogs, and now is accepting and even playing heartily with her foster brothers and sisters. We do expect that reaction to new dogs to disappear as she becomes more confident and ... (Read More)used to meeting other doggies. Morgan knows how to sit, and has a decent come when she is not busy exploring. She loves to be outdoors, and does a fair share of flycatching and patrolling for bugs. She picked up the dog door in no time flat. Has excellent leash skills, has the ability to learn to play with toys, she is being house broken now, and is excelling in record time. She is not enamoured of her crate, but will go in to eat or sleep. She is not fond of it when tis time to go to work, but a bone or antler will go a long way there. She does ride well in a car, (it was a three day trip from Arkansas). Snuggle time you bet! and a snooze on the bed is even better. And who can resist?? She loves to be loved on, and would love a home where she will be pampered. She does have some separaton anxiety so another dog or two that is calm confident and friendly would be such a bonus for her! She has potential for doggie sports, once she gets acclimated to the real world, and has been socialized. Morgan would definitely benefit from obedience classes, basic agility class. She is a fun, sweet little girl who will give years of love and put laughter in to your life! Right now we will go with moderate activity, but be prepared as she gets comfy and confident for that jogging partner, or that agility girl that will come peeking thru!! Morgan is fostered in the Bradenton area, please contact us if you are interested in adopting this little girlie! Update on Morgan.. 5/27 she has been with us for a year!! We learned she was positive for hw and she was treated in March. She has gotten bolder, and now plays with toys readily and with other dogs. She still has that cattle dog selectivity factor, but for the most part she is fine in a multidog home. still a sweet girl who loves attention, Morgan is fostered in Dade City. She is ready to move on to her forever home! (Less)

Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This one is a real sweetheart! Maddie is all Australian Cattle Dog - smart, alert, attentive, sensitive but persistent and highly trainable. She likes to romp around in the yard and play with a ball but also has an off switch. She wants to be with her human, is cuddly and will lay next to you on the couch or at your feet. She's great on a leash (no lunging or pulling) and isn't fearful or reactive, just interested in learning about the world around her. About one year old, Maddie looks to be purebred. She was picked up as a stray in Alabama and saved from the shelter in the nick of time. She is up-to-date on shots, heartworm negative, ... (Read More)spayed, crate-trained and has nearly completed house-training. At 40lbs. she's got a beautiful silver and tan coat and loves people. No food aggression, she'll take a treat carefully from your hand. She doesn't bark unless there's a good reason, rides calmly in the car and is proving to be a wonderful office dog. Maddie would be a great match for someone looking for a loyal, active, versatile pet and who is willing to train her with patience and kindness. We believe she would do best in an ACD-savvy home as she is exhibiting the herding instinct. She loves to play with other dogs, (sometimes a bit roughly so we're working on her doggy etiquette) and would do well with a similarly playful pack-mate. Untested with cats but has shown typical heeler interest in the neighborhood roamers and squirrels. Maddie is a friendly, intelligent, happy girl who wins over everyone she meets with her wiggly butt, sweet disposition and winning grin. (Less)

Hi, my name is Maybel. Short for Maybelline! They say it's because I look like I've 'shmeered my maekup,' like I've been crying... But I have no idea what they're talking about I was born with it. I'd never cry. I'm probably the happiest, goofiest dog in the whole wide world! I love to run around outside, and I love to roll around on the floor with my foster sisters... Playing is fun! Sometimes I even play all by myself! When everybody else gets tired, I make my own fun! Cuddling can be fun, but its mostly just comfy. So nice... My foster mommy says it's a tight squeeze, but I think I fit just fine. Because I didn't have a good life ... (Read More)before, I get scared around new dogs, so I bark and growl and make the hair on my back stand up to get rid of the scary dog. But if my foster mommy introduces me carefully and lets me get to know the new dog we make friends and everything is all good. You can't have too many friends when your a dog! I am getting used to lots of different things and it is getting waaaay better!! At doggie classes I am a star! I have amazing focus that earns me lots of treats. I wish someone would make a game out of find the treat... I would be great at that game with my sniffer. I always know what hand or pocket the treat is hidden in. All I need to do now is find my forever family! I need a family that will be patient with me, and take me out to do new things and be in new places so I get educated. Will it be you?     Hi, I'm Lilly! I can do everything the other doggies do. I love to go for walks, and play with my foster sisters. I love to run! I especially like it when my foster sisters let me chase them. But I'm a good girl. I know to go to my foster mommy when she calls me. I know my basic commands, how to walk on a leash, how to stay in a crate, and lots of other things! I even learned how to cuddle, and my foster family really likes that. I usually get down after a little while, but I always come right back. I'm like a boomerang! Cats make me a little nervous. Rescue Me ID: 15-01-28-00161Fera (female)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Fearful/Anxious

Fera is a small 8 or 9 mo old girl that was found in rural Ga in someones shed. We do not have a lot of info on her background. She was brought to the shelter where she promptly retreated into silence and depression. Fera was semi feral when brought into the shelter. She was rescue only and no one wanted her. We saw her face and took a chance. We have had her since May, and she has made great progress. She has never been aggressive, she shuts down and goes into a ball when she feels threatened. That behaviour is becoming less and less. Fera now comes to people for petting, does well on a leash, is learning to sit, has a down. Loves to ... (Read More)snuggle with you for selected moments of time. This is a very agile, smart dog, that can leap 5 feet in the air, sail across a couch or two, and is fast as the wind. She is very attentive, looks you strait in the face. She shadows youwhen you walk in the house, but if you turn too sudddenly she will dance back and can be coaxed to approach with food. Fera still needs lots of special attention. She will always need the company of another stable dog for a role model. Now she needs to expand her horizens, and needs lots of exposure to the environment. Walks in the park, classes (she has been to several puppy classes and done well), petsmart, lots of people touches. She loves dogs, they are her safety net, and she is still learning to trust people. Fera is a project dog, and we will release only to someone that has experience with rehab dogs. She has been evaluated by a behaviourist, and is perfectly rehabitable. she will be an excellent and beyond performance dog. Loves to tug and play, but it is shadowed by her distrust of people hands. That can be overcome. She is still at risk for flight, which is what she would do if scared, so a trusty secure fence is a must. Throw in another dog or two, a patient, kind loving person that knows how to train and read a dog, and she will be a star! She will NOT get any bigger , max 25 pounds. We will consider a reliable knowledgeable foster who can take her under their wing and continue the work we have started.. Fera will be able to get in to classes with certain trainers for a minimal cost, which we will pay for. we will pay for any medical, heartworm and flea prevention. We are just looking for a great home where she can continue her adventures in life. If you are interested in fostering or adopting please contact us, we will be happy to expound on her!! (Less)

Serena hit a rough patch before being rescued on a busy 4-lane hwy., and had numerous health issue. The good news is most of that is behind her now. She does have some old bone injuries which have healed, but incorrectly. The vet states at this point in time, there is medically nothing that can be done to heal them. Serena mobility is good, and get around the house and yard just fine. She like walks and playing with the other dogs in her foster pack. She takes Tramadol for pain at night; the prescription is ... (Read More)available at any local pharmacy for about $4 a month. Does well in the house, is house trained, respects boundaries, does not get into anything she should not be in. Serena gets along well with other dogs but has a tendency to do a herding nip, if there is a lot of running activity when playing. This is not an aggressive bite, but a nip to try to herd the other dog. She gets along fine with older children, and mostly ignores them. Serena's manners continue in the backyard as well. No real issues with digging or jumping. The exception to this rule is when it thunders out, even in the distance. She cannot be left alone outside when there is thunder. She gets so scared, that she will claw and dig at the fence to escape the perceived danger. When inside the house she is fine, and just finds a place to hide until the storm passes. Serena would be a perfect fit for someone who likes a low energy dog. She is content to just be at home with her human, or in other relaxing environments. (Less)

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Incontinent

[Read About Natural Incontinence Care] Pepper is a 9 yr old purebred Cattle Dog pulled from a shelter in Tampa. She was an owner surrender no reason given, and no one came in to adopt her. She is a beauty, a well taken care of heeler, a little over weight if anything. She is a bit headstrong and does not have very good leash manners, but she corrects with a verbal very easily. She knows sit, lie down, has a great recall. A simple eh will stop her behaviour in a minute. She is very alert, not shy at all. Very interested in livestock, but not over the top crazy. I believe she would work sheep or cattle. We drove by our cows the other day, and she ... (Read More)locked in on them from the car window...and got a little excited..no barking that i have heard. Very active girl, she loves to play ball, and loves squeaky toys. She will let you take them from her mouth. She does get very excited when the other dogs are playing and will pace back and forth, but that is corrected easily. No digging noted. Pepper was on medication for incontinence, we were unable to get precise info from the shelter as to what kind of meds and she came with none. currently she is on good food, no grain and getting holistic medication for that problem. If she is left in the crate for long periods of time, greater than 8 hours, she will be incontinent. She does let you know when she has to go out, and we have had no accidents in a very long time. Very confident and likes to snuggle for brief moments, otherwise she is out sniffing and checking out the great outdoors. Someone has taken the time to train this girl. She goes right into her crate, no problem. She does have an issue with other dogs, especially females, she is a very dominant bitch, complete with body language, she does better with males and I can put her out in the yard with one or two of my boys..But I still have to watch her. She would do better in a home by herself .Pepper does like to go into the pond and get wet, she swims like a fish and dives in at will. She will make someone a great companion dog, even at 9 she is more active than some of my youngsters! Great partner for hiking or easy jogging, she would be a great buddy for boating or just hanging out on the couch watching tv!! At 9 yrs old, this girl deserves to take life easy and have a forever home..Please contact us if you are interested in Pepper. She is at the farm in Bradenton. Her adoption fee is $100. We have had her almost two years now, and would love to see this sweet girl get into a forever home! If you are interested in fostering Pepper, we would like to talk with you. We have a lot of dogs here and she would do so much better in a place with less or no dogs. (Less)
