Rescue Me ID: 15-07-28-00335Robin (female)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Robin is a 8 month old 3/4 Blue Heeler 1/4 Border Collie mix. She is right around 30lbs. She LOVES fetch, runs, hikes, playing keep away and is highly treat motivated. She is spayed, housetrained, tail docked, dew claws removed and HIGH energy (I've met cattle dogs of her age at dog parks and she seems to be on a level of her own). When I'm out and about in the country taking a walk/hike, she does excellent off leash. She doesn't stray too far and is always checking for her human to be nearby. When it comes to people, she LOVES them. All of them. She goes in a 'PET ME!' frenzy when she approaches people. Definitely a people pleasing ... (Read More)pup. I have noticed she bonds to women much more quickly, although she does fine with men. She also loves kids. Essentially if you're human, you're the bestest friend to her in the whole wide world. She is a bit timid and cautious around other dogs at first and has kind of a hard time with openly in your face playful dogs unless she's in her own yard where she feels comfortable and confident. She's a bit of a loner at the dog park I've noticed but every once in a while she'll find another dog she feels confident around and plays a bit. Oddly enough with her high energy level she does well with dogs at a medium level. She has some work to do with being on a leash as currently she does not understand the concept. She can get barky at times as well. She does require a decent sized fenced yard as she has been known to be an escape artist a time or two if her new home is in the city. If she's going to a farm/ranch, I think she'd do fine without confinements as she sticks by her humans. Honestly she just needs a high amount of work or a very active lifestyle which unfortunately has changed for me dramatically in the last month or so. It's getting to the point where it's just not fair for her anymore although I do love her to death. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-07-25-00584Buck (male)

Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Buck is a 2.5 year old heeler and is a large dog for the breed (60 pounds+). He has everything you expect in the breed, intelligence, good watchdog, active, (LOVES to fetch a ball), loyal, always wanting to be with his people. He is also quite affectionate, a big baby who loves to cuddle. He has a wide vocal range with yips, whines, barks, growls, moans and each sound has a special meaning. He does not exhibit the common heeler trait of biting or nipping, and is very friendly with all people, kids and adults both. He is 100% crate trained and even understands the command 'crate' and will run right in there and lay down. Buck does not get ... Rescue Me ID: 15-07-25-00302Tea (female)

Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Aggressive

Tea is a great dog with humans but has dominance issues with other dogs. She does show aggression with other dogs which is why we need to find her a new home. It seems to be just with other female dogs. We have little kids and she has done fine with them but because of her aggression with other dogs I would hate to say 100 percent that she would be okay with all kids. She has been a loyal dog and listens very well. She needs a place where she can run and be active. We are sad to have to find her a new home because she has been so great to us but she needs to be in a one dog home.

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Dingo is a well-behaved 4-5 year old pit-bull mix that would love nothing more than to be someones couch potato. Dingo is potty trained and knows some basic commands, he also loves to go for leash walks! He gets along great with most dogs, large and small, and loves to be around the middle-school to high-school aged kids that come to help walk a few times a week. Dingo found himself with us after his owners body was found locally. With no other family that could take him we are now searching for a loving home for this very deserving dog. He wants to be a cuddle bug and be lay next to his person as much as possible. If you are interested in ... Rescue Me ID: 15-05-29-00424Maddie (female)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We love puppies, and Miss Maddie is too cute for words! Maddie was found as a stray cruising the local Shopko parking lot. We were sure someone would be looking for this gal, but here we are...her holding period is up, and she's officially available for adoption. Maddie is sweet and spunky and loves to be with people. She's quiet when we arrive to visit with her, but when we leave, she makes sure to let us know she doesn't want us to go! She plays appropriately with other dogs and doesn't seem to mind the kitties at all. Maddie's little freckles make us think there might be some cattle dog in that mix, maybe some terrier, maybe ... (Read More)something else?? She has the most adorable little scruffy face. She is still a goofy and uncoordinated puppy - we guess her to be around 3-4 months? (Less)

lnteresting Australian Cattle Dog Trivia Low-Cost Montana Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Cattle Dogs were bred by 19th century Australian pioneers to herd cattle on large ranches. Australian Cattle Dogs are excellent at catching frisbees. The Australian Cattle Dog nips at a cow's heels to keep it in line with the herd, and may apply this technique to its humans from time to time as well. Australian Cattle Dogs are descended from several different breeds, including Dalmatians and Smithfield Collies, which are now thought to be extinct.
