Bella is a friendly girl looking for someone to play with her. She is about 1.5 years old and a mix of Treeing Walker Coonhound and Australian Cattle Dog with a touch of Dalmatian too! She gets along with the other dogs in her foster home and loves meeting new people. Bella walks well on a harness lead but would love a fenced yard to run free, but not required.     Jack is a 2-3 year old cattle dog mix. His loving family has to move to Japan (military) and they know that Jack needs space to run and play. Jack is looking for a home that will give him lots of snuggles and treats and take him on walks. He especially loves running on mountain bike trails with his family and camping trips. Animal ID: Babs  (female)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Babs is a sweet, 2 YO, 40 lb dog who came to PAWS as one of 12 dogs from an older owner who was no longer able to care for her. It seems she was bullied by the other dogs so she hangs back from people and other animals until she gets to know them. She's an inside/outside dog who wants to please, but is a bit nervous right now. She'll come to you, but is cautious. Once she knows you're going to be good to her, she just melts. She has had no previous training, but is doing wonderfully in foster care with leash training on a harness. As far as house training, Babs will need to be given plenty of opportunities to potty outside in the ... (Read More)beginning until she learns the routine of her new family. We recommend Babs go to a home that's more quiet and calm with older children. She needs someone or a family who can help build up her confidence with gentle care. She doesn't like yelling, rambunctious activity, or loud noises and will cower until you reassure her everything is OK. With a little encouragement, continued training, and lots of love, Babs will blossom into an even more wonderful dog than she is now. (Less)

I don't know why I have been so shy since I was a puppy- and people look the other way because of that. I know I am a good boy, I just need the chance to show it to you. I love my foster family who has cared for me for months and they have shown me love and a good life. However I know that I cannot stay here forever, so I am hoping for a forever family very soon. lnteresting Australian Cattle Dog Trivia Low-Cost North Carolina Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Cattle Dogs were bred by 19th century Australian pioneers to herd cattle on large ranches. Most Australian Cattle Dogs have a star-shaped marking on their foreheads called the Bentley Mark, after dog owner Thomas Bentley, whose purebred dog supposedly passed this mark on to all genuine Australian Cattle Dogs. Australian Cattle Dogs are descended from several different breeds, including Dalmatians and Smithfield Collies, which are now thought to be extinct.
