Rescue Me ID: 17-12-31-00087Bella (female)
Bella is a friendly girl looking for someone to play with her. She is about 1.5 years old and a mix of Treeing Walker Coonhound and Australian Cattle Dog with a touch of Dalmatian too! She gets along with the other dogs in her foster home and loves meeting new people. Bella walks well on a harness lead but would love a fenced yard to run free, but not required. She is an affectionate girl and loves to lay on the couch with her head resting in your lap. Bella is intelligent and eager to please. She has had some obedience training and is house-trained. Due to her cattle dog breed she needs a 'job' and an active dog savvy family. Bella is up to date on vaccines and spayed. Her adoption donation is $250.00. She has a $50 sponsor so her adopter would pay $200. If you are interested in Bella, please go to apsofpc.org and fill out the non-binding adoption application. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-10-23-00259Jack (male)
Jack is a 2-3 year old cattle dog mix. His loving family has to move to Japan (military) and they know that Jack needs space to run and play. Jack is looking for a home that will give him lots of snuggles and treats and take him on walks. He especially loves running on mountain bike trails with his family and camping trips. Jack's family has done a lot of training with him to be a good boy, but he still has some behavior issues. He gets nervous around new dogs and people, especially small children. Please contact me if you would like to learn more about Jack!

Animal ID: Babs (female)
Babs is a sweet, 2 YO, 40 lb dog who came to PAWS as one of 12 dogs from an older owner who was no longer able to care for her. It seems she was bullied by the other dogs so she hangs back from people and other animals until she gets to know them. She's an inside/outside dog who wants to please, but is a bit nervous right now. She'll come to you, but is cautious. Once she knows you're going to be good to her, she just melts. She has had no previous training, but is doing wonderfully in foster care with leash training on a harness. As far as house training, Babs will need to be given plenty of opportunities to potty outside in the beginning until she learns the routine of her new family. We recommend Babs go to a home that's more quiet and calm with older children. She needs someone or a family who can help build up her confidence with gentle care. She doesn't like yelling, rambunctious activity, or loud noises and will cower until you reassure her everything is OK. With a little encouragement, continued training, and lots of love, Babs will blossom into an even more wonderful dog than she is now. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-07-17-00378Silo (male)
I don't know why I have been so shy since I was a puppy- and people look the other way because of that. I know I am a good boy, I just need the chance to show it to you. I love my foster family who has cared for me for months and they have shown me love and a good life. However I know that I cannot stay here forever, so I am hoping for a forever family very soon. I am approx.5 months old male Red Heeler mix. We know mom is an Australian Cattle Dog and we believe dad is a Brittany Spaniel. I am mainly red with some white markings and adorable freckles. I received all of my puppy shots including rabies, bordetella vaccinations and was dewormed.I am already on heartworm prevention and I was neutered.I am a little shy and will need a few days to adjust, but when I do, I am the sweetest pup. I am house broken already . I get along great with other dogs.Fenced in yard required. Vet reference or home visit will be conducted before application can be approved. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting an Australian Cattle Dog in North Carolina
Australian Cattle Dogs can make good pets in North Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. The Australian Cattle Dog is one of the most intelligent dog breeds, needing a lot of attention to stave off boredom. A neglected Australian Cattle Dog can become destructive. Australian Cattle Dogs have strong herding instincts and behave best when they have plenty of space and a job to do. Australian Cattle Dogs are well suited to farms and homes with large yards; they do not do well confined to an apartment or other small space. Australian Cattle Dogs are loyal and very obedient with attentive training. An Australian Cattle Dog tends not to do well with children unless it has known them since it was a puppy. Australian Cattle Dogs may be very close to their masters and reluctant to accept other people.
