Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

15 months old who would love to be given a chance. Unfortunately we are not in a position to keep up the care or go through the treatment to kill the adult worm. Various opinions from vets and rescue groups. Basically it comes down to either economic euthanasia or finding someone who is able and more than willing to put her through the treatments and preventative Heartworm after that. It's too much for us at this point in our lives.

Hello! Have you ever met a dog that loves hugs? Well, I do! My name is Parker and I am a handsome Blue Heeler. I am about 2 years old (as of 5-1-17) and weigh approximately 41 pounds. I am currently in a foster home and seem to be house trained and very well mannered. I do great with all humans, but I do have herding in my blood, so I may nip at heels and small children may not be the best for me. I get along with other dogs. I can sometimes have 'barrier tension' so I act foolish when a person or a dog comes up to the fence. But once you are in my presence, you're my best friend. I am just a great guy! I like to chase cats though, so I ... (Read More)should not be in a home or around any felines please. My adoption fee is $185.00. I am neutered, up to date on vaccines, kept on heartworm preventative and microchipped. *PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT RURALANIMALRESCUEEFFORT.ORG **An application and home visit are required prior to adoption. All of our pets are or will be spayed/neutered, up to date on all vaccines and micro-chipped prior to adoption. Please complete the application on our website and we will call you to answer any questions you may have. Our ability to perform out of state adoptions is limited and reviewed on a case by case basis. If you are not in TN, please ask us about the potential of adopting the specific animal you are interested in. Our adoption fees not only help the animal being adopted, but they also help to cover heart-worm treatments and other treatable ailments that many animals, that would otherwise be euthanized, need to be made available for adoption. Thank you for choosing to adopt, foster, or aid in the rescue efforts of RARE! Please visit www.RuralAnimalRescueEffort.org for foster and adoption applications or for additional information. ***Please Note*** The breeds noted are guesses on the part of the volunteers of RARE based on the physical characteristics of the particular animal. Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

SOPHIA is a beautiful 4 year old female Blue Heeler mix. Her foster says that Sophia is a very silly girl that loves to run and play. She also loves hugs and loves children. There are children aged 8 and above at her foster home. She is up to date on all vaccinations, HW negative, microchipped and spayed. Sophia weighs 53 pounds. She was an owner surrender in Trenton, TN. Sophia is energetic and needs someone who will exercise her daily. She needs to be able to run and play. She is strong and can pull when on a leash but this should improve with training. Sophia is a little overbearing when around smaller dogs so, if she was to have a ... (Read More)canine sibling, they would need to be strong and playful and closer in size to Sophia. Sophia is great with older kids but she may unintentionally knock over a toddler when playing. She is not house trained but will crate when told to do so. Sophia is extremely intelligent and learns fast. She just needs someone willing to put some training time in with her. If you live in another state, don't let that stand in your way. We will work to transport Sophia if it means she will have a good forever home. If you are another rescue group, we will waive the adoption fee but you can make a donation toward vetting at your discretion. The adoption fee will help our 501(c)3 non-profit rescue to cover part of the cost of her veterinary care she has received. (Less)

Australian Cattle Dog
lnteresting Australian Cattle Dog Trivia Low-Cost Tennessee Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Cattle Dogs were bred by 19th century Australian pioneers to herd cattle on large ranches. Most Australian Cattle Dogs have a star-shaped marking on their foreheads called the Bentley Mark, after dog owner Thomas Bentley, whose purebred dog supposedly passed this mark on to all genuine Australian Cattle Dogs. Australian Cattle Dogs are excellent at catching frisbees. The Australian Cattle Dog nips at a cow's heels to keep it in line with the herd, and may apply this technique to its humans from time to time as well.
