Health: Needs to be Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

This red heeler, cattle dog breed (I think) belongs to my son who is not able to care for him. He needs a good home with lots of room to run free. We have to keep him chained due to lease laws in Wilson County (Lebanon, TN). I have been around Rusty since he was six weeks old but due to my responsibilities I haven't been able to give him the love and attention he so deserves. It grieves me that he doesn't get enough human interaction. He is very smart.

Maggie Is a sweet hyper year old pup full of energy and needs to run. I have been a dog owner my whole life and I'm in a time in my life where I live in an apartment and work 70 hours a week. Maggie is not an apartment dog but I found her and got her healthy just can't train her for how high energized she is. She's not neglected but I feel she is miserable and could use a yard with a family that has time and could spoil her the way she deserves it breaks my heart to not be giving her the life she deserves but I want the best home for her and find her forever home..

HARMONY is a gorgeous Red Heeler who will have you singing 'Harmony and me, we're pretty good company.' She was found on 2/1/15 on East Main in Union City in NW TN. She was not claimed during her hold time at UC Animal Control so she was pulled to safety and is now doing well in a foster home. She gets along well with the other dogs there and loves the cats. She is doing well with house training as her foster reports she goes our regularly and has had no accidents in the house. She likes to lay at your feet and is catching up on lots of naps. She is a beautiful reddish tan and white with spots and short legs. She is estimated to be a ... (Read More)year old and weighs 26 pounds. She tested negative for heartworm and has been vaccinated. She will soon be spayed. If you live in another state, don't let that stand in your way. We will work to transport Harmony if it means she will have a good forever home. If you are another rescue group, we will waive the adoption fee but you can make a donation toward vetting at your discretion. The adoption fee will help our 501(c)(3) non-profit rescue to cover the cost of the veterinary care she has received. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-01-06-00325Pepp (male)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Pepp is a great dog! Medically, he's great! Pepp is up to date on all vaccines, shots, you name it! He does have a tender spot, though, on his right side on his rib cage near the spine; it's not broken, but it's spot he does NOT like to be patted. He's a very sweet boy who loves being around people, loves snuggling, and will lay on the couch for hours, if you let him. He really enjoys playing tug of war with his rope toys, and he'll lie on his bed and chew on on a rope toy, a stuffed animal, bone, or whatever you give him (don't let him chew on clothes though!). He's a heel biter through and through, but he does it playfully. When you have ... (Read More)to correct him, you have to be very stern because he's surprisingly strong willed, and from the moment you get him home, he will test the pack leadership. So from the moment you meet this guy, set up a strong leadership position, and make sure everyone else living with you sets up that strong leadership and are prepared to consistantly keep that up. As for more info on him, he's almost house-broken and crate-trained. He knows the routine for going to the bathroom, and he'll occasionally go sleep in his crate (especially with a blanket laid out in it). I adopted him from the shelter that I volunteer at, and I had been watching him for a few months. He was a low/medium energy dog with very few insecurities. He was very well mannered in the kennels there. So, it was quite a surprise when he blossomed into the dog he is today. I took him home and laid down the rules from the minute he stepped foot into my home. Long story short, his personality quickly blossomed along with his energy level. The cat that lives in my home is scared to death of him because he continuously rushes her and herds her. She won't leave the bedroom and eats about half of what she normally eats. I know he has a high drive to herd, and I want to give him a home where he can do his naturally born job. It's not that he doesn't get out a lot during the day or get enough exercise because I take him for a 2 or 3 mile walk/jog in the morning and to the dog park in the evening where he really wears himself out. Let me know if you are interested in this little guy or if you'd like more info on him, his habits, his routine, etc. If you do adopt this awesome dog, I will transfer all of his toys, his bed, food, crate, and bowls to you. Rescue Me ID: 13-08-14-00499CassyDee (female)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

CASSYDEE wants to know, Who wants a Riding Partner? This Lab / Red Heeler mix girl needs to be part of an active family with a fenced yard for play. She loves to be with her person and to go for rides. She will jump right in as soon as the door is open. She is rough with smaller, more timid dogs so she would be best in an only dog home or in a home with dogs larger than she is. CassyDee is almost 3 years old. She is spayed and current on vaccinations. She is light HW positive and receiving treatment for that. She is medium sized at 40 pounds. If you live in another state, don't let that stand in your way. We will work to transport ... (Read More)CassyDee if it means she will have a good forever home. Rescue Me ID: 13-07-31-00257Sophia (female)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

SOPHIA is a beautiful two year old female Blue Heeler mix. She is up to date on all vaccinations, HW negative and spayed. Sophia weighs 50 pounds. She was an owner surrender in Trenton, TN. Sophia is very energetic and needs someone who will exercise her daily. She needs to be able to run and play. She is very strong and needs quite a bit of training. She pulls when on lead and jumps. Sophia is a little overbearing when around other dogs smaller than her. If she was to have a canine sibling, they would need to be strong and playful. She does not need to be around smaller children due to her energy. She is not aggressive towards people but ... (Read More)just runs fast and does not always watch where she is going. Sophia would need either an adult or older, strong child as an owner due to her strength. She is not house trained but will crate when told to do so. Sophia is extremely intelligent and learns fast. She just needs someone willing to put some training time in with her. If you live in another state, don't let that stand in your way. We will work to transport Sophia if it means she will have a good forever home. If you are another rescue group, we will waive the adoption fee but you can make a donation toward vetting at your discretion. lnteresting Australian Cattle Dog Trivia Low-Cost Tennessee Spay & Neuter Clinics
Australian Cattle Dogs were bred by 19th century Australian pioneers to herd cattle on large ranches. Most Australian Cattle Dogs have a star-shaped marking on their foreheads called the Bentley Mark, after dog owner Thomas Bentley, whose purebred dog supposedly passed this mark on to all genuine Australian Cattle Dogs. The Australian Cattle Dog nips at a cow's heels to keep it in line with the herd, and may apply this technique to its humans from time to time as well.
